Default ERA New Body Design

Bob, I was chatting with Peter this morning about the new body that you all will be starting next week (taller passenger foot box, lower battery, etc.). Any chance you can post some pics of the new design changes for us all to see? Thanks.

We're currently finishing up the footbox molds and lots of other details. I just ordered all the new steel chassis brackets too. The first production chassis will come together in the next couple of weeks. I'll be able to take pictures then. Much Trickness!

There are so many improvements, we may have to raise the price.

My God Bob---a "new Body" for ERA! Will this mean that my car, ERA 002, is now obsolete? I suppose this will be another upgrade of the old girl that I will have to consider making. I can hardly wait to see how your latest upgrade looks.

Bob,

When I was in on Saturday I thought what I was hearing was that whatever is new is all under the skin. The skin itself is the same, outwardly at least.

The new body doesn't have the flange under the rocker, the front flares are slightly different, and some of the assymetry has been removed. We left a little for originality.

If you look inside the nose, there's lots of new original-looking tubes that integrate with the new body, bumper and radiator mounting systems, and a different mount for the optional front fans.

The front and rear wheel housings and trunk inner panels are now aluminum.

More stuff that I almost forgot... We've eliminated the step under the door sills and the tunnel is now aluminum and a bit higher to clear the Tremec shifter without a spacer.

Not that I mind at this point I could just hope that they would ruin the mold so the rest of you future owners would have to look at my car with envy

Default Your car is already looked upon with envy...

.. I see you put those webers in that you were thinking about.. Those webers definitely give it that "look".

It's been in production for about a year. See http://www.erareplicas.com/mk2/index.htm

Is the new 427 body like the new one (Peters) at Tony's in MA? I checked that out last week when I went up to see my own soon-to-be black 427, #718. It looks awesome.

The body at Tony's is from the old mold but has some of the changes of the new one. We've improved on the detail chassis and inner panel changes that you may have noticed on that car too.

...and if Bob was being really being candid, he might let slip that the elves have been busy up at the R&D and that maybe, just maybe, ERA will have a special version of the GTMKII at Carlisle along with the new ERA427... that's assuming that everything comes together in the next four weeks. ...but then he's not that candid.

Jim
