Default ERA Visit

FYI...those who know me or have an ERA progress know I just spent some time with Peter and crew on Monday. Not that these folks need, but the visit just confirmed again that I made the perfect choice with a manufacturer. These guys get it and more importantly understand the fact that they have someone's dream car in there hands. Spending time with Peter talking about my car, meeting the other folks was terrific...I just wished I lived closer.

Anyway...I have been working on putting the pics I took in my gallery but is taking forever so I have put the first set in my gallery. I will keep updating if I have time, but I took pictures of every car of every car in there (in one way or another) so if you don't see yours and was wondering, just send me a PM and I will check my photos and see if I have something I can post or send to you.

Default Where are you? (wife calls into garage)

Kramer answer, in the garage with new mistress. Now the fun begins of spreading your time between wife and mistress. ERA said you can put togeather your car in about 100 hours, That's a pro like Doug at ERA. It's about 150 hrs. and 10 cases of COKE. Just treat it as an adventure and not a job Good Luck with the build. It's fun. You have plenty of support for either mistress or wife Rick Lake

Rick,

The reason it took you so long is that you spent all your time in the bathroom...

Kramer,

Good luck with finishing your car. Nice paint scheme you have on the car. Did you get to dine in the catering truck? Always a good meal to be had there.

Rick...for me, gettting the mrs on board has been a long time brain washing. I think she finally got on board when she realized the idea was not going away. She seems happy that I am happy and I got to love her for that...hopefully she will enduring patience as the garage gets packed to the brim with Cobra bits.

JWheaton....funny you mentioned the catering truck. I haven't seem something like that in a long time. I did partake though (hence the sippy cup of coffee).

Default Lovely car!

Kramer, really like the color scheme .. historic as I recall you saying. What silver is that? Are you going all the way to turn key?

Enjoy!

SSSammy,

Yeah....i have loved the cobra body lines for over 20 years and thus have seen a lot of cobras so I was looking for something a bit different than the traditional stripes. I debated on this for a long time..then picked silver only to realize there are a million silvers...after trying to find the precise color code I found the closest thing to it and it was a mercedes "iridium silver".

FYI...I also spent some time with the painters talking all things paint/prep etc so if you got Questions, let me know. Since I will be running a race windscreen I also had the vents smoothed over as well. The whole painting process took about 7 weeks from start to finish.

Have a lot of pictures from ERA three weeks ago also. Searched all over for the infamous "missing chassis 745". Peter had misplaced it. Not at Tony's, not in the shop. Will try to get them up this weekend.

Default 745

Red, that's about when Peter found it in the cargo container .. just before it was to be returned to China to recover the deposit I DID call Tony a week later and he confirmed that it was sitting behind his shop, partially in and out of the river, being used to anchor a trotline I said, that's ok, I just wanted to hear YOU to tell me you had it

Cheers,
Sam

Sammy,
I was sitting at Peter's desk going over my car's option list and I asked him how to get to Tony's to take some pictures of your car. He said your car wasn't at Tony's but at another painter. Then he got in a panic because he thought he sent it to the wrong painter. Then he called both painters and neither had it. We knew it wasn't on the floor. You should have seen his face. Mustache was drooping. The plot thickened. Ergo the beginning of the legend of the missing ERA.

Default The manual is about same size as War&Peace

Strictpersonl Bob I can't read and a few pictures where hard to understand That is why after 9 years I am going to send the car back to you for the interior work.. Just remember Bob I was not trying to build a concrete boat in my free time. I was on the throne To anyone who reads this thread,I am just messing with Bob. The Cobra manual from ERA is the best with pictures for showing how to build a cobra in your garage. Step by step. If you get into a problem ERA tech helps you right out. Rick Lake ERA#428

Default You got that right! I was not looking forward to

dealing with Cali DMV. I'll be in the Odessa/Midland area.. I think it'll be a cake walk... I'll have to see if there's a West Texas Cobra club..

Ahhhh.... Midland/Odessa.
You'll have no registration problems. You won't have any handling problems either. I'm not sure there's a road with a curve anywhere north of Fort Stockton.
