maybe the bookkeeper ran off real quick with the 5K???
Maybe it was 'assumed' (I hate that word) the deposit was returned, only to find out that it was stolen.... and maybe other people's money, too!
who knows??? just speculating... but if the bookkeeper left suddenly it just makes me think maybe he left suddenly for a reason.
I have had to wait a bit for a part or two, but always received what i asked for, along with a couple of extra goodies for waiting.

I'm just thinking there has to be a GOOD reason for the deposit not being returned. I just don't think it is company policy to keep the money. If that were the case, that sure would be common knowledge on here.
Can you imagine the mess the books could very well be in???

I don't know nothin'; just thinkin' out loud here.

the excuse is not important here, I am sure ERA is honest, however, this guy apparently has spoken with the company on several levels and has not recieved his money in a timely fashion, and if his side of the story is valid, then he deserves that and may use whatever tactics he deems needed to come to that end. The old "they are good honest people and I am sure they will come through" ( see FFR threads) excuse gets old real quick when it is your deposit on the line.

pavulon 09-08-2007 06:14 AM

All,
I appreciate the input and am encouraged by most of what has been said. To date, there have been no new developments. Obviously, I will report any changes as disclosure of such is fully in the best interest of fairness.

I guess I'm the naggy type... I'd call everyday! Maybe even call and then have my wife call. You definitely don't want to get my wife involved! haha

hey,littlecobra 09-08-2007 07:20 AM

I'm not making excuses; I'm giving a possible reason. maybe i didn't write it clearly. If he is representing the situation completely, then yeah, a check for 5K should be cut Monday.
Let's just say... he's called numerous times, and everytime given the run around by the bookkeeper. Management (ownership) thinks a refund was returned months (?) ago. Now that the bookkeeper is gone, different people are being asked about the refund, of which they know nothing about. So... yes, Peter would be responsible as owner, and I would like to say it is being handled immediately! I wasn't really making an excuse; sloppy management is no excuse, but just giving a possible reason.
of course.... it may have nothing to do with the bookkeeper. :)

regardless, IF Scott is due a refund, it shouldn't have to come down to a post on an enthusiast website.

I'm not wishing 'good luck'. Luck has nothing to do with it and implies lack of confidence that this problem would be solved satisfactorily. I'm just going to say 'be persistent.' :)
:) Kristen

ENTDOC 09-08-2007 07:56 AM

I agree with that

cobred 09-08-2007 09:25 AM

ERA is open Saturdays, curious if you called today and what happened if you did.

pavulon 09-08-2007 09:50 AM

Since the terms were agreed to, I suspect I've called 20 times and spoken to Peter (is everyone now satisfied?) or left voice messages w/ call back numbers each time. I've not made myself a pest as I've always respected that there is a business to run as well. I'm finished wasting my time and money in calling.

I understand that there is no way for people to know if I'm telling the whole truth here. I can only say that in my profession (anesthesia), there is no room for lying nor can I fathom lying in a public forum. Only my word and actions stand between my professional success and failiure. Like many here, I have no pedigree or professional intermediaries to hide behind. I'm only as good as my last effort. I wouldn't waste anyone's time by telling half-truths. If I did, I'd deserve to be flogged.

fsstnotch 09-08-2007 10:04 AM

I think it's time to become a pest!

hey,littlecobra 09-08-2007 12:38 PM

Scott--I'm sorry- not trying to imply you're lying! ugh!!
Just the folks 'here' won't get the side from ERA, and it's difficult to determine if you are 'owed' the $5k. I don't want the details of your agreement. Not appropriate. I think i was meaning, IF you are owed the refund you SHOULD get it immediately. I guess what i don't 'get' is....
if ya'll agreed on the refund, then what could possibly be the reason why you haven't gotten it??? If the refund 'agreement' hasn't been agreed upon... then i can see the disparity. It's all a matter of perception. I think I wasn't clear on there having been an agreement for a refund decided on. Has ERA said you get the refund and they just haven't sent it, or are they not in agreement that you get one?? Is it clear and i'm just not seeing it??

Yes... i guess you must become a pest. How unfortunate.

Every business has problems come up; it's how they are dealt with that gives them their reputation. Keep us posted please.

still i'll say...
be persistent.

Kristen,
I don't get it either. We agreed to a timetable that has been severely missed, repeatedly. The "run-around" and BS are the reasons I've come here.
I very much appreciate your concern and advice.

Not to ridicule the situation... but I hope the bookkeeper/comptroller didn't leave with the books or worse… the checkbook!

I’ve seen more than a couple of businesses take months to recover from the loss of a comptroller. I can imagine Peter's desk is overflowing with paper right now!

Wish nothing but the best for both pavulon and ERA.

pavulon 09-15-2007 06:01 PM

For those still following along, I've not been contacted nor have I received any payment. As such, I'm (sadly) forced to contact to the CT Atty General's office on Monday.
Again, thanks to all who have replied both here and in PM's.

ERA's bookkeeper did not quit but was laid off. Stricklypersonl should be very careful what he says (where the money is or isn't). The bookkeeper worked there over 30 years and there was NO MONEY TAKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tbell 09-18-2007 08:59 PM

Everyone concerned should find out the truth themselves.

Excaliber 09-18-2007 09:02 PM

With the bookeeper gone, for whatever reason, no doubt the company IS struggling to figure out 'where the money is or isn't'. Any company would be, I never took that to suggest there was any foul play on anyones part.

tbell, sounds like YOU are the one making accusations in that regard.

Sounds like someone else is trying to shift "blame" here!

HI Cobra 09-18-2007 09:35 PM

If the book keeper had been with them for 30 years I would hope it would be
safe to say he/she was competent. If the time had come to lay said book
keeper off (maybe more to this than meets the eye) one would hope the books were in proper order and that someone was in line to take over the
duties. Somehow the "book keeper is gone" shouldn't have any impact?
Oh well - hope the issues are resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Excaliber 09-18-2007 09:50 PM

One of the reasons I quit contracting was I couldn't keep track of the books! Billing was a nightmare, doing the work was easy.

Brent Mills 09-18-2007 10:28 PM

tbell, who are you again? two lonely posts here and we're supposed to trust your input?

Bob has been a highly valued member here, and ERA has earned the respect of many, many customers and even more enthusiasts over the years. Like others have said, I sincerely hope things come to a proper resolution and have significant trust that ERA will take care of the issue if things are exactly as stated by the affected person (not suggesting it's not the truth, but there's no way for us to resolve this without knowing both sides of the story). The reality is that more than one person has tried to destroy the credibilty of a business by misrepresenting the facts on the internet for their own gain. Again, not suggesting that is the case, but I will not make a judgement in my own mind without all the facts from both sides.
