Default New EM sidepipes

Reference my post on rattling sidepipes:
I got an Email from Julie about the problem. It is a known issue but the only solution offered is to buy new redesigned ones.
Question:
Has anyone bought the new EM sidepipes? Any comments?
They are slightly bigger, should last longer and are quiter, says Julie. Supposedly designed with a quality manufacturer awaiting licensing issues.
I wonder how they would compare with other brands on volume, backpressure and quality.

Just curious. Did Julie quote a price? Availability? That could be a big factor.

It is a bit irritating that they won't support those of us that paid good money for the pipes that they acknowledge had a faulty design.

I don't know why the new pipes would last longer than the old. They are all stainless steel, so there should not be anything to rust or deteriorate regardless of size.

If they are still using the helical design baffle in some form I would wager they are still louder than the other options. I would want to know if EM has taken the time to measure the dB levels at a specific distance with the old and new

I would compare Stainless Specialities prices with EM's prices as a starting point. The fit and polish on the SS pipes exceeded the EM pipes, in my case.

Default This is what Julie had to say - quote:

"Unfortunately, the rattling is something we’ve heard of WRT the GenIV. The environment that those baffles ‘see’ is incredibly corrosive and the welds don’t last. I am not sure if Brett realized that. My guess is that one of the baffles has come loose.

We have seen people stuff the muffler area with the equivalent of ‘glasspac’ material, but it too degrades and it will shoot out the sidepipes after some period of time.

We do have a new muffler that we have developed in conjunction with a well known performance muffler company. [When the legal fine print is dry, we expect to co-brand with them]. The muffler has ~25dB of noise reduction and very little performance degradation. The sidepipes are about ½-inch larger in diameter and require a new collector and a longer hinge but if you didn’t know it, you would not notice the difference.

You can see if you can get someone to unweld the collector and reweld the baffle but my guess is that you will see the problem again.

The muffler in the new sidepipes is street legal in all 50 states as well."
