Exactly. Just another repetition of his same tired out dogma.

You need to step into the 21st century Patty....flat tappet cams are antiquated.

When you start building motors for customers then you can come back and tell me how you feel about flat tappet cams.

It's all too easy for someone to buy a perfectly good engine, take it home, break in the cam unsuccessfully, then ruin an engine builder's reputation on internet forums. No thanks.

There are two handfulls of engine builders on Club Cobra. Ask them which they prefer.

You miss the point. It's not what the engine builder wants, it's what the customer wants.

Risk seems to be quite a bit less if you break in the cam for your customers. I had my builder do that - in fact he pretty much insisted that was the way he preferred it.

One obvious reason to go with a SFT is authenticity. Some people care about it, some don't. It adds to the experience of ownership for me.

I will say it was nice to see everyone play their positions so well on this thread. Reassures me that none of the planets are out of alignment.

Of course, but Brent has gone to bed so I've got to quit bashing him. But his position of refusing to install a solid flat tappet, under any condition, and for any amount of money, just seems a little "over the top" to me.

Maybe his lawyer recommends against it. It's always the lawyers that ruin the fun....

It's not-for the very reason I stated.

Stories about broke motors never include the information that the customer insisted the builder to go to +.080 or install a cam he advised against-for any reason. Just "Hey, Blank built an FE that went FUBAR"

Besides, that hat is very becoming on you...

That was the slogan of one my favorite haberdashers. "If your hat is not becoming to you, you should be coming to us."
