Default Cam Plate question for 427FE

Which cam plate/retainer do i want/need for a 427 Shelby Aluminum block and where should i purchase it from?

Can someone please post a picture of the front of their Shelby block with the guts installed, but the timing cover still removed.

Thanks!

A normal FEplate - factory iron or Blue Thunder bronze - or aftermarket roller - willwork, although the clocking position is different. I'll try to get a pic for you - got one being assembled in the shop as we type.

Default Check the end play also

RestoCreations. Check the end play on the camshaft also with it installed in the block. If you are using a torrington bearing, this is real important. If the play is too much, the camshaft will walk around inside the motor and speed up the wear on the distributor gears and put extra stress on the distributor shaft and driving the oil pump. Rick L.

I just havent found a lot of the plates for sale on websites and that is why i wanted to ask here. That and the two types i have found have been roller and non roller and i am not sure if the roller plate is something that i really wanted or not.

Thanks for the replies! I apologize for my lack of knowledge in this area.
