First, I'm no expert.
But when I had my engine and tranny installed, the shop recommended some vents with screens be installed into the front fender wells. The shop owner, whose shop had many original CSX 3000's regularly go through there, said that they were installed on Comp and/or S/C cars. In any case they do offer another venting opportunity for you.
Additionally, they installed these air scoops with screens inside the nose of the car to help collect the incoming air more efficiently.

Install looks great in person, Rodney, just like it was designed for that car.
Compliments to Tom

Rodney,
I know it's not critical to your build but, any idea how much weight the Paxs plus all needed brackets, pulleys and etc. added to a 'standard' FE build? Did Tom weigh the components?

Chas,
I've read that the SN60s are 24 lbs each.
The brackets were all aluminum (minus a small stainless one), carb hats, tensioner and spacer (for the crank pulley).
Maybe 65-70 lbs total?
We didn't even think to weigh them.

'We' would have if I was 'Project Chief'.
I just always wondered. These on a Cammer with iron heads would materially change handling on our 90" wb. Certainly would need more spring and bigger bar at the least. You don't have such worries.
Next puzzle-how ya gonna get a timing light beam through that conglomeration??

That was an easy one.

Well, I finally got her home. I took her out for a spin. WOW! The amount of power on tap is indescribable, and that's with the shoe off and the pinky toe on the throttle.
It took a good amount of work:
Tom Lucas' (FE Specialties) 511 FE
Fitting and mounting the dual Paxtons (CAD design)
Beefed up fuel delivery
Moving the brake lines
The gauge cluster
a few tricks up Tom's sleeve...
...and it all fit under the stock hood (just a little messaging of the scoop hole)!
Tom did it all BTW.
It's actually very streetable, just have to be cautious not to sneeze or have restless leg syndrome.
The, shall we say, passing power, is quite a treat.
Let me know when you're in LA, Chas. I'm taking you for a ride.
There's a new pic in my album, btw.

You know, Tom should get more attention on here. He's really in the top rank of builders and his work should be better known. Tell him I said so.
Dude-I warn you that I visit family 400 miles north. When I do, you are getting a shout.
PS-more pictures.

You know Knockers, a Cammer will produce the same feeling...

That is super-cool. How does it feel at low speed when you're just, say, pulling out of the driveway and heading down the street? Can you ease out in to traffic, or does it require a completely different driving style?

Rodknock - We have a deal. Just shipping details. His shop is very busy
Chas - just tell me when. You were always super supportive of the project and had my back.
patrickt - as long as you're careful not to throttle too much, she's a kitten. There's really no boost at idle so backing out of the driveway or taking off from a green light is not really different. Of course the cam wants more idle. When warm she idles at 1250. But if you're cruising at say 70 (about 2800 rpm with my .82 OD and 3.42 rear end... rough numbers from memory) and you goose it.....WOW! I know the term 'five first gears' is over used but it really is like that....neck snapping.

Possible help; lower rear pressures in 2 pound increments and test until you get to 18.
Of course the repeated testing is the whole idea........
WhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAA
Uh-I'm OK now..

I mean really. Who gives two shakes about the engine.
Rodney almost has a set of Halibrand mags in his hands. The rest is just background din. (figuratively and literally)

Twin Paxton Build
Hey All.
Just wanted to chime in here and give many thanks to Rodney for his very positive and patient support throughout this project build!!
A lot of the success that a project reaps is do to the customer being very positive and supportive which definitely gets transfered into the project at hand!!
We are very pleased with the projects outcome in regards to the fit and finish and the overall asthetic design! All phases of the build were accomplished with the accuracy that we had intednded and that a project like this demands!!
As the Quote goes, "It All Fit Under the Hood" is a testimate to the success of this project!! And all functions are not compromised in any way!! We just love the overall
outcome of this build.
So far as the power output goes, this car is "OFF THE HOOK".!!!!!
This is the first customers car in which we did not throttle the motor past 1/4 of the throttle travel! We dynoed the motor and made many passes that attested to the strength of the build, so this was not a question, but the final test was left for the customer, and rightly so with a project like this!!
We have built about 7 or 8 Kirkhams, and this car is in a league way by itself!!
We did a 528ci SCJ 460 base motor in a Superformance, which made 710HP, and it was maybe 1/2 of this cars overall output!!
I would have not felt comfortable to throttle this car except at a track. It is that powerful!!
We wish all of you a very Happy Holiday Season and a very Prosperous New Year!!
Cheers,
Tom L
