Just MHO, but there's not much difference to me at all. Looks like a lot of work for not much gain.
If anything, I'd call up Fran and get your name on his list and eventually order some mag wheels. That way, you get the mag color and you get a lighter wheel.

And that's reasonable. But here, this is a pic of my car in direct sunlight, and what I believe will be the true look of the wheels, in direct sunlight at least. Darker in shade, of course.

The mag color popped on Chas' ERA, because of his car color. I don't think it will on your car. Actually, I have no idea if mags will look good at all on a polished aluminum Cobra, but I'm willing to try. I don't care. I could always resell them. I'm mainly after the lightweight and it feels special to me.
Unless you're polishing your wheels or painting them black, like Doug's blue 289 ERA, then the visual difference is minimal. To me, of course, but whatever makes you happy. That's the key. Happiness.

How does this strike you? This is how it will look on an overcast day.

That's a noticeable improvement. The gray actually clashes with the body color.
How did you 'Shop the color onto the wheels?

I'd agree that it is an improvement, but subtle at best.

Place the painted poster in the same light (sun, shade, etc.) as the pic of the car that your going to "shop" and snap a photo of it. Then use the Eyedrop Tool to pull the pixel color from the pic of the painted portion of the poster. Place that color in the foreground. Use the Color Replacement Tool, with the appropriate sized brush, to change the wheel color of the car using the color from the poster which is now in the foreground.

Those are "Terry Body Springs." They are the high-water mark for Cobra fashion.

Humorous. You have to admit, my basecoat on the Trigos, with flat clear coat, looks pretty darn good. In fact, better than pretty darn....

Yep, an absolute stroke of genius on your part. Thanks to you, I will soon have Halibrand Mag Wheel look-a-likes that not only compliment my car's color, but that would also fool all but the most savvy wheel connoisseurs.

Trying to avoid strokes at this time of life...
Ahhh-easy with fooling those that know-the rim profiles and valve stems betray you.

Sorry, bad day.
Besides, it had been more than an hour since Chas contributed. I think this thread was putting him to sleep between posts.

Well, you should be thanked, by Patrick, since you did omit his similarities to Peter Pan.

You guys must realize that this thread was originally about emissions hose and was accompanied by an under the hood pic that has/had nothing to do with the color of Patrick's wheels.
This thread should be ample evidence that Patrick just likes to boost his post count. It's also ample evidence that beige doesn't look good on Cobras.

A. It's his thread and he welcomes the attention.
B. It turned into 'Extreme Make-Over; fake Cobra edition' because that car really needs one.

I never really noticed it before, guys, but I think it's the same color as my wife's minivan! Maybe I should think about getting it painted ? I'd hate to have someone mistake us the next time we drive through CT... probably safe though, as her headrests don't look like they were made by an amusement park balloon sculptor...

Some things are to be inferred.
Whoops, there I go again.
BTW, what's the backstory to the Oyster Bar?

Like the one in Grand Central, the figurative 'Oyster Bar' is a place where poser snobs gather to preen with each other.
Can you think of a more apt denizen than the boy we love to hate (and relishes it!)?
