Talking DEJA VU - - ALL OVER AGAIN

HEY TOIVO,
NO SOONER DID I COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT HAVING RECEIVED A FECA NEWSLETTER - - - THAN ONE ARRIVED AT MY DOOR.

THERE IS A FULL PAGE ADD STATING THAT THE GENESIS BLOCKS ARE NOW AVAILABLE. THE PRICES ARE:

$2995.00 FOR THE IRON BLOCK

$3995.00 FOR THE ALUMINUM BLOCK

SOURCES ARE:

MIDWEST:
GENESIS CUSTOM MANUFACTURING 317-733-1695

EAST:
F.E WAREHOUSE 423-338-0064

I THINK THAT MY "DREAM ENGINE" WOULD BE A GENESIS ALUMINUM BLOCK BUILT-UP BY GEORGE ANDERSON.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

BLACKJACK

So how many people have actually put down deposits on these "dream" motors? I want one but am a little skeptical about becoming a guinipig...

Default Block

I have learned from experience that I never want to be the 1st on the "Block" (no pun intended)! I would love to see one of each done dynoed and beat up at the track to see what potential changes need to be made.

I hope that the new Genesis block is as good as some knowledgeable folks are saying.

There's so much overpriced junk out there it's not even funny. Maybe some of these welded, sleeved, overbored "bargains" some people are trying to get $4 -5 K out of will start to come down a little with some serious competition. From what I seen and heard, the Genesis offerings are just what the doctor ordered.

Default 427 S.O. Value

You might give a call to Ford Power Parts in Norwalk, Calif. They deal exclusively with high performance parts and engines. Guys use to consign their parts/engines to them. About 5 years go I bought a complete fresh rebuilt 427 T.O. for $2200 that was consigned to them. I had to take it apart and rebuilt it since it wasn't put together to well. It had 2 sleeves, but everything else was there and in good shape. If you need FPP number, let me know and I'll try to get it for you.

I DON'T WANT TO PUT YOU "ON THE SPOT". I'M NOT LIKE TURK. - - - - - WELL - - - - - MAYBE I AM!! WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE BLOCKS??

Default 427 Blocks etc......

I believe in giving something new a chance. I have posted in the past my feelings about competition.....it's very good for those of us looking for new FE castings. I will again mention my best wishes to Tim and Genesis and the long difficult task of producing a new casting of the 427 Blocks.

My family started an iron/brass foundry way back around 1908...I grew up being involved in this foundry along with our other manufacturing and machining business (Irrigation Pumps & Farm Equipment)...our family company was bought out by Ingersol-Rand in 1978. I continued with IR until 1991. One of my many manufacturing tasks was bringing new Pump lines into production. I probably bought close to 500 new complicated patterns in that time and produced hundreds of new parts for this industry...from 1 pound to 2500 pound parts...from Iron to Stainless to Bronze and aluminum.... IT ISN"T EASY TO BE PERFECT THE FIRST TIME!!!!

Genesis and Indy Pattern have been through this process before...I believe they know what they're doing....but it takes time to get a good finished casting and even more time to get the final product machined and in the hands of people who can do the testing.....We need to give them a chance to get these tasks completed and I believe they will end up having a very positive impact on all of us interested in the FE engine lines.

The Shelby block is a wonderful casting and the machine work too....anything new needs additional personal tweaking to meet individaul needs.....So I'll just emphasize again......Give Genisis some more time and the wait will be worth it I'm sure! The wait may be weeks or many more months....then the "I have a real one" syndrome will start and Genesis will have to deal with that consideration as no matter what...the Genesis block will never be a real block...just as the Shelby block will never be a real block....but a new and better block with and old name and great old tradition!
George

Well said.

But, now we have to deal with the Real Vs. Fake thing again?

there are differences:

the crossbolts are larger diameter and don't use spacers would be the easiest check.

if the heads are off, the new block will have siamesed cylinders.

there will be a unique serial number placed on each block, though that would be the easiest thing to get rid of.

there might almost be a problem of people selling cleaned up old blocks as 'new' genesis blocks. who knows in our buyer-beware world.
