Well that is just lovely. What are the build specs and parts that Blair chose?

+1^ what Tom said.

What your dyno chart does not show is the run-up to 4800 rpm. I suspect the TQ curve down there will be quite impressive also. High torque at low engine speeds provides an exceptional driving experience. Like Tom suggested, it will be quite exciting in the lower gears. :D

Here is the image of the engine installed

That's good stuff. If Blair dyno tuned your engine I doubt he put a Turkey Pan and small filter on it before he adjusted the Holley. So, the customizing that he did might not match to your setup as you have it installed in your ERA. Not a big deal by any means, just something to tuck in the back of your mind. That's half the fun.

Very true. The price we pay for some originality

Your displacement is actually 445" if your specs you listed are correct. My KC built, Pond block side-oiler is a true 482" and it's 4.25" x 4.25".

I bet that was a typo on his part. I actually do have the 4.125" stroker crank in my block, along with a 4.155" bore. Of course that opens up the debate as to whether a 4.125" crank revs faster than a 4.250" crank, all things being equal. Personally, I have always believed that the shorter stroke results in a shockingly improved rev factor.:p

DanEC 03-30-2023 05:26 PM

I always thought that too Patrick, until my 4.25” stroke 428 that Keith Craft built. Not sure if it was their balancing work or just the light weight of the car, but it revs crazy fast and very smooth, very much like the Ford 3V modular motors (which are also under square).

The stroke length number itself has zero, zilch, nada to do with how an engine accelerates. The weight of the rotating assembly, the camshaft, compression ratio, and a few other variables have everything to do with how an engine accelerates.

After one year on the ERA wait list Peter has just started on my 427 chassis No 844. I am now Shopping for an engine, but the supply chain issues are creating a back log such that many of the usual engine builders have declined or been non responsive. Does anybody have experience of Prestige Motorsports for an FE turnkey build?

I’m way late to this thread. Congrats on a great motor from a great builder.

Rig Man 04-14-2023 02:03 PM

Apologies, and yes a typo, it should be 4.25. Well spotted!
