Unhappy Ball joint backed out of Upper A-arm

While installing Power Steering in my FFR Cobra, I noticed that the Upper A-Arm Ball Joint on the drivers side of my front suspension had backed out and jammed inside the upper A-Arm socket. The inside rim of the left front halibrand wheel was also scrapped out about 1/2 inch from rubbing against the lower mustang A-Arm.

Has anyone else found this condition??

Default Ball Joint

This is a first for me, I have never heard of this happening. I hope your Hallibrand Wheel is OK. A ball joint and/or an Upper A frame is fairly cheap to replace compared to those wheels. If you do replace your A frames go to tubular there are several available. Try Shell Valley or FFR for starters.

Good luck.

Exclamation Upper and lower ball joints are tricky

They often have to be pressed into place, then always torqued to specs, then it is essential that the cotter key be installed. Sounds like there was no cotter key installed?
I don't have specific experience with the Mustang 2 front end, but I think a ball joint is a ball joint.

FFR uses a screw in ball joint from Chrysler.

I had mine unscrew last month. I just retightened and then had it spot welded. Alignment was OK.

Talking to an old chrysler mechanic friend....Yup, That happens all the time.

Just retighten if you can....

My PS Engineering wheels also rub...I just remember to not turn so sharp.
