Shelby Aluminum Crate Motor Special Pricing
 

We are currently building a 489 CID All Aluminum Motor Turnkeyed and Dyno'd for $17,500.00. This is Shelby block, .030 over with a Scat Steel 4.25 stroke. SCAT 4340 Forged rods, JE Pistons, Plasma moly rings, Canton Road race pan, Edlebrock Intake and waterpump, Edlebrock Stage II heads with 2.19/1.75 valves, HV oil pump and drive, all machining,gaskets and heat treated bearings. Comp hyd. cam and valve train. (T&D upgrade of 500.00 if you like). MSD FE Dist and wires, DaVinci 950 Carburetor, Powermaster gear red. Hihg Tqe starter. Shipping extra. We are doing loads of these motors at 600 HP on pump gas at 10.5:1 comp. Velasco or SCAT billet cranks available for this motor at an additional charge of $1700.00. I think that that is about the same price that Southern Automotive charges.

Ok, I have to ask, if this is a "new" Shelby block, why in the world would you want to take it .030 right from the start................

No, but you would think if he is alluding to a "Shelby Black", that it would be a new Shelby block, as there are not many used ones out there.

BILL, I looked one over once and measured the cyl bores and came to the
conclusion that I could have got away with the std bore but you really need that 30 over to get the finish you would want and expect from a $5000.00 alloy block.

They are new blocks guys...I was over atthe shop the other day...remember with an aluminum block you don't have the same restrictions as iron blocks...if you ever want to go to a std bore you just resleave the block.

Hey Guys, all the blocks are brand new ones. Thats the only Kind we use. All brand new parts as well, that's the easy part.We understand that some folks use substandard parts or substitute old for new and yiu don't find out till the motor cavitates itself to death and you have no recourse with the builder. We just bought another 20 aluminum blocks from Shelby Inc. this week and we are again filling orders with them. there are no hidden gimicks about this ad and we welcome you calls. we will also tailor the motor to your needs and desires. Some one asked the question earlier: "why take a Std. 4.250 bore on a New block and immediately bore .030 over. To answer that, most oof our customer want big FE street motors and wantthe most cubes possible with a remaining clean up possibility of 2 times or so. Therefore we tend to do 4.125 strokes and 4.250 strokes with a .030 or .040 or even .060 right away. Giving us anywhere between 454 to 496 in combos. We can leave the bore 4.250 if you wish and get you a 4.250 crank giving you 482 inches with many more clean up possibilities for a light hone or clean up bore in the future. Do these blocks carry the C5AE-H part number on them or a 60's number. Also can you do Shelby heads? Do they have the C5 part number as well? What would the price differance be?
One really stupid question since I'm on a roll. Can the aluminum blocks be painted black so as to look like an original 60's engine? Thanks, Sal. :confused:

Sal, The aluminum block can be painted if you wish. The C5 #'s are not there, and yes we can get the Shelby heads,as we are one of their autorized dealers. 972-578-3550

Well Steve, You must not be aware of what really goes into a motor these days. Yes , there are such things as heat treated bearings, and they are not new to this century. Hope this helps out, not trying to be a smart a$$ about it. Just answering the question w/o trying to offend. Keith Craft

Quite frankley..Yes! I figure why spend $5000.00+ for an NOS block with the wrong date code when I can buy an aluminum. Cast iron new blocks add 30 lbs over an original block! I was only hoping for a date code for insurance reasons too. I beleive in my state the car is titled by the year of the engine. Anybody in NJ can help me here if they know. Thanks, Sal.
