Default different rocker shaft supports?

somebody i know told me that he was assembling the 390 engine he had bought for a 70 f250 and that his rocker shaft hold down bolts bottomed out before they contacted the tops of the shaft support. He asked me if their were different height supports because someone told him their were 3 different heights. i've never heard of this and any help will be appreciated. Thanks

there are 4 different stands including the aluminum one. First the C2AZ-6531-B, aluminum 0.98-1.02-in. Second the C3AZ-6531-A cast iron 0.98-1.02 in. third was C3AE 6531-A 1.10 wide (hi riser) and the C5AZ-6531-A 1.10 wide. height was 2.2 in on all except the 1.72 in high riser. The std height stands use 3, 2-31/32 in long bolts and one 3-19/64 in long bolt. The long bolt fits the stand with the oil hole. The high riser stand use 4, 2-1/2 long bolts all the same. He might have wrong stand/ bolt combo. hope this helps, Glenn.

Forgot to add: material referenced above is from Steve Christ's manual "How to rebuild BB Ford engines".
credit given where credit due.
Steve's book is a fairly accurate and informative source of knowledge. Vauge in some areas but good reading none the less. G.

his measured 2 1/4 " tall on the supports. the bolts bottomed out and lacked 1/4" of making contact with the supports.

Was the engine assembled when he purchased it? Does he have the oil drainback pan and correct washers on the bolts? And or the correct bolts for the application. That might made the difference. G.
