390 air pocket solved
hey guys
well i fianlly solved the burping problem. went and purchased a temp gun to check all parts of the engine and cooling system. pushed the car out of my shop into the bright sun light and boy did it shine. i'll post pics next week. started the engine and was checking things with the heat gun when one of the guys next door came by to look at the car. he said that the fan wasn't turning. in the dark of my shop it seemed to be turning ok but in the sun it was obvious that it was barely moving. actually he grabbed the fan and turned it backwards. the new fan clutch was bogus. great!!!! purcahsed another "new" clutch and found an electric fan that i had used on my cobra at one time. installed the new clutch and placed the fan in front of the radiator and ac condensor. started the engine and ran it for 20 minutes. the heat gun showed that the temps along the intake runners to range from 160's to 180. the exhaust was around 400. and the temp gage in the car never ran as hot as before and the car never burped. yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes its the little things. at least it looks like i won't be taking the engine apart. knock on wood. thanks for the help guys.
have a great weekend, i know i will.
