Default Superformance Checklist

I am interested in purchasing a used Superformance and understand there have been several issues that I should inspect and ask owners for repair or update reconds on.

I recently heard there is a checklist that I can print to use as a guide. Can anyone tell me how or where to obtain this list?

Can anyone tell me about the earlier rear suspension problems and also tell me which numbered cars had windshield problems?

Thank you,

K

Post the SPF number--that way Current owners here on CC will have an idea as to the model/ build number from SPF. Depending upon the build number over the years many things have been changed / upgraded. Unfortunately The SPF owners site won't allow information seekers on their website or You could get it there. Bummer, I ran into seekinginfo before I bought my first Cobra, an SPF.
Good luck and welcome.

There are several ads, one was SPF 493? 1232 and 1973.

I heard that the windshields were all different but they all had some delamination, the side pipe brackets would break and something about the rear suspension upgrade. I don't know what significant changes occurred and at what numbers. Trying to search for information has not been helpful which really made me wonder if there were problems, how they never were posted by the owners.

Thank you for your help.

K, take a look at this link:
http://performanceunlimited.com/supe.../features.html

It is a short list of the improvements from the factory by serial number.

By the way, if SPF 1973 is in your realm of interest, you really should go take a look at it. John T is quite a guy and very particular about his ride.

I know they changed the shape of the cowl and the windshield but not sure what number. They no longer make the old windshield so if it breaks that may make it difficult. The old ones had the glass epoxied into the frame so it's a pain to just replace the glass. The side pipe brackets were a little weak in the early cars and needed reinforcement.
I think the rear suspension problem was related to the front mount brackets for the center section. It's an easy fix that just requires some beefing up. I've spent many hours working on and driving a friends SPF that is in the early 300's range on the serial number and all three of those issues came up.
