Default Genesis 427 Question

Does anyone know:
1) How much the aluminum Genesis 427 weighs
2) How much it costs?

Although, I have an Aluminum Genesis, I don’t know what they weigh. When I purchased my block in March 2004, they were priced about $1000 less than an Aluminum Shelby block from the same supplier.

The complete aluminum engine is $14,500 and it weighs 420 lbs.

I just called Genesis.

I have heard a few people having problems with the Ford Crate 514's. Spun bearings, broken valve springs, broken cams, all within the first few thousand miles. . .

Does anyone have experience with the Genesis 427 motors?

I personally think that the whole weight issue is blown out of proportion for the way the vast majority of us use our cars. That being said,I do recognize the advantage of weight savings when practical. I think your choice of motors should center on what you really want, as number one priority, and work toward that goal.If you use any other criteria you will regret it later and ultimatly want to change to the motor you really wanted in the first place. I dare say that for most of us it is a 427so,not all ,but most. So if you really want a 427so I suggest trying to make that happen. If it really does not matter then a nice 392w can be had for 6,000 or so and will probably perform quite well. chuck
