Default 2X4 air cleaner for 427

This may sound odd, but I cannot replicate the air cleaners on my car. The tunnel wedge manifold sits higher than the normal 2x4 manifolds. I have a hood clearance problem and need 2 units to replace the old ones. Rough dimensions: 7 inch diam. and 3 1/2 inch max height from flange to top nut. I have not been able to match up a KN element to replace the dirty ones on the car now. The filter element dimension is 2 1/4 high and 6 1/2 diam. Any help would be appreciated.

Paul,
This thread may help.

If not, I would suggest going to Napa and telling them the exact dimensions you need They can look through their book and special order it-you'll probably have what you need in just a few days.
Good Luck

How about the 2x4 Cobra oval with a 2" filter? Cobra accessories sells them.

I got up in the attic and found the K&N elements I bought for my two stelling and Helling air cleaners .I'm still too high to use them buy about 1/8" to 3/16".They hold the hood up as they sit now. I'm also running a 2x4 tunnel wedge manifold.Maybe in a few years when the motor mounts sag.
My advise is with a tunnel wedge manifold I'd get a hood with a larger non traditional hood scoop.
I have two K&N elements I bought from FinishLine to fit a pair of S&H air clearners .Box says E-2570 they are 1 15/16" tall fit 8 1/2" air cleaner . I also have a 2x4 tunnelwedge intake and I.m still 1/8" to 3/16" too tall. Still looking for an air cleaner that will fit under hood and take advantage of the scoop. A tunnele wedge intake( espcially 2x4 requires) a large non tipical hood scoop.

No doubt the S&H air cleaners are limiters. They are nostalgic but not verry helpfull in the power department.I'm willing to pay when sombody builds an aircleaner setup for dual fours that will fit under my hood and use the scoop.
