Default 427 Top Oiler Help

Hello All.

I have a line on a 1965 427 top oiler. C5AE-A cross bolted etc. It has been bored to 4.251 and looks only to have some surface rust in the cylinders. In addition there is a cast crank, C4AE-B, and, C7AE-B rods. What would be the going rate for the block, crank. and rods separatly? Thanks.

The block maybe $1500-2500 depending on how nice. Check under that surface rust for pitting also. The C4-B crank is listed as a 427 iron crank but does not have the factory oil grooves. Figure $100 or less depending on condition and how far it's ground undersize. Nice grooved iron cranks can be had for $200 and under. 2U 390 cranks for $50 and are everywhere and very good to use. The C7-B rods are listed as 428CJ rods. But these are with the big rod bolts. There are some C7-B's that use the smaller rod bolt that came in 390's so know what your looking at. I just bought a nice set of used C7-B big bolt rods for $75. They go $100 or so needed rebuild and $195 done nicely on ebay. JMO, G.

It's almost .020 over now. If it cleans up at .020 it might be worth $3000. If it will clean up at 4.253" .030 over it would be worth at least $2500 here in california. More it's been properly prepared, oil passeges opened up, deburred etc.

Thanks for the info.

I am going to take another look to see if those cylinders are pitted. If so, I guess the block would have to be bored more than .30 over, therefore requiring sleeves and way too many headaches.

Thanks again.
