I think he's using a 4.170 stroke and a 6.250 rod which is not a good ratio with a 4.040 bore. Roush and Keith Craft use a SB Dart Block with thicker cylinder walls and they do a 4.125 bore and a 4.0 stroke with a 6.250 rod producing a much much better stroke to rod angle. The problem is with a low stroke to rod ratio is piston scuff and wear. Thus shorter pistion/engine life. Spend it now or spend it later.
