With British bikes and cars, it is just their way. These things are like big dogs! They are not leaking oil, they are just marking their territory!

I drove the car today and got the temps up. Looked under the car and saw no leaks. Crawled under and felt the bellhousing and backing plate. Absolutely dry. I can not figure out where the oil on the floor last night could have com from. Really crazy.

Don't feel bad. I have hunted a leak that drips about 5 drops a week on my floor for 30 years. This has been going on since I bought my 69 Torino Cobra brand new and it still has the original tires and just over 40K miles on it. I have used dye, completely dried and cleaned the bottom of the car so many times all paint is gone and I had to repaint it, and had numerous mechanics put it on a lift and try to find it. Replaced all gaskets and everything that I can think of and I still have it. I have came to the conclusion that this particular 428SJC just manufactures a few drops of oil to aggravate me. I have even put talcum powder all around the side of the block from front to back to see if I can find a break where oil came down and nothing. Also pulled the inspection plate so many times it comes off really easy now and it is dry as can be inside. I now have a very minor water leak near the front of the intake and if that has to be pulled to stop the water leak I will look at all the gaskets again. But for the few drops of oil I have always had fall, it just isn't worth all the work, especially since I just slide a piece of card board under the car and then wipe the oil that has dripped over a period of time off when I drive it.

Maybe one of the other members, here, is just trying to drive you crazy, by slipping under your car at night and leaving a couple of drops of oil. Time to set out claymores and trip lines!

I am in agreement with the theory that someone is putting the oil there..wife, neighbor..someone is messing with your mind. We did a similiar prank on a friend...he was bragging about fuel mileage...we added a little bit of gas to his tank each week...then we started siphoning some off for awhile...told him he was losing his mind and need to take math 101 again because the numbers just didnt match up.
He never did catch on.

DU, at this point I would break out the concrete floor right under your car and install and oil recovery tank so you can put the oil back in your engine.
Might save you a few bucks a month.

When I told Linda this AM that the car was completely dry underneith, she said that she might have put some oil under there. She was kidding. Wasn't she? Ya, she was.
