Hate to break your delusion, BUT the Boss 429 was a twisted and clipped Hemi, not a true Hemi as you indicate. As, I believe Excalibur said, a true Hemi is designated by combustion chammber shape. As in HEMIsphere, meaning half a sphere. So there is no way that a Boss, while a nice engine, is considered a Hemi, except in the very broadest of terms. I also think that the 426, is not a full Hemi either, if you placed to chambers together they woul make less than a full sphere. Regardless of what Ford may have said/do say, the definition was not created by them. There have been Hemi heads in lots of appplications though, including such varied beasts as the Fiat,Alfa,Jaguar and Triumph motorcycles. There are many more but these are just a few off the top of my head...TRUE Hemi's.
An I hate to be so picky...but PROFESSOR is spelled just as I spelled it not proffeser as the questioner did. Your proffeser may be impressed, but your Professor would probably not.

Yes,yes, yes, however the discussion originated around production engines of which the Boss 429 production engine WAS NOT a Hemi.If you RESTORE Boss 429s, as you imply, you would never put Hemi heads on one because you would screw up a Restoration.Might want to check out what "restore" means. The reasons those later AFTERMARKET heads became Hemis was because the Boss 429 ones didn't work as well.Plain and simple. Did my research when they were new and when those late ones came out, it's easier to keep up than to catch up. So, unless there are some unknown Production Boss 429 Hemi head in the 1000(est.) combined total production Mustangs, that they only came in. You made my point for me..Thanks.
