side oiler arrived

I got the side oiler delivered Monday by the builder. I hope it runs as well as it looks. I pulled the carbon car home from Austin last week so the fun begins.
It's a '67 with a milodon gear driven Sig Erson cam, 10:1 CR steel crank, lemans rods, sidewinder intake etc. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...bon_home_2.jpg

Who was your engine builder.

double ugly 08-25-2007 08:12 AM

A guy in MO. does a lot of FE stuff, and built it to my specs.

Nice!! What kind of numbers (hp, tq) are you expecting? Congrats on both the engine and the car. Sure will be a nice combo.

double ugly 08-25-2007 11:18 AM

Should be around 500 HP. I didn't want any more than that. It's been run in but not dynoed.

joey_hv 08-25-2007 11:24 AM

so including this car how many have you bult to date?
(and i'm still working on #1:o )

double ugly 08-25-2007 01:36 PM

I've owned 4 and not done a scratch build. The Hi Tech had to be disassembled for paint but this carbon car should be much more invloved.

Hmmm....I think I know who that guy is. A little over 1800 miles round trip from his place...right?
Saw him today, he told me the build specs, your gonna like that motor.

joey_hv 08-25-2007 05:58 PM

i take it from the ambiguity this engine builder wants to remain anonymous and does't particularly need more business?
also i'm engine retarded so bear with me here, will these specs give you good perormance but still remain street drivable? or is this stricly for the track?

double ugly 08-25-2007 06:15 PM

Lineslinger, Yup you know.
Joey, it's for the street. Pump gas grocery getter.

Looks good John.
What tranny and gears are you running?

ERA649 08-25-2007 06:37 PM

What air cleaner is that?

BTW I had those nice pent roof valve covers too and they stoped leaking when I replaced them.

I have a 3550. I'll have to ask Roger again what the rear end ratio is.

I've heard they can be a problem.
The air cleaner is a S&H from Finishline with a K&N filter.

I can't take much more drooling, it's getting messy around here!

The motor looks great John. How about some pics during installation?

John,

I don't understand the statement that the carbon car should be "much more involved" to finish versus the Hi-Tech - can you explain? I thought the carbon car was painted with suspension, interior, etc already installed. Thanks and your motor looks very nice - a nice period look 427.

double ugly 08-27-2007 07:43 AM

It's only probably more involved since we've never installed an engine in a cobra and the interior needs to be completed. The Hi Tech was running and only needed to be disassembled for paint.
I'll try to remember to bring my camera this week and take a few pictures.
John
