Default dove water tanks for ford fe

does any one know if dove makes a water tank for the fe with the outlet going to the passenger side , and the cap and over flow tube on the pass side also?. there web site shows it on the drivers side. any idea on cost?

Dove makes both...driver's side and passenger's side. The cost of the tank is $350. I bought one recently.

the one in your picture exits on the drivers side, it looks like the tops can be reversed. i have a ron davis radiator and i need the outlet on the pass side. that is to bad then i would not have wait. why is there such a long wait ? is every thing built to order?. how is the quality compared to the oem style metal ones?.

The outlet is on the bottom casting and cannot be reversed, but they do make both driver/passenger side castings.

I live about 40 minutes away from the factory and went there to buy mine (they happened to have one in stock). There were probably 20 sets of raw castings on the shelf waiting to be machined, a good layer of dust on them... Most of their production seem to be dedicated to making their roller rocker arms. I would guess that they finish machine these tanks to order as sales of this item is probably limited.

Quality is very good if you like the cast aluminum look, (which I do). It would take an awful amount of work to polish one of these up. I've never had any leaks...

I have what you need on my SPF FE. Dove was slow when I bought mine a few years back. They are slow to come from the foundry and slow to machine them. They do come with a valve in the neck to control flow too.

does any one know if the dove tank has a removable threaded tube for the overflow?, the reason i ask i would like to run a an fitting insted of using a hose with a clamp.

ronbo do you have a picture of the kirkham tank? and how expensive is it?.
does dove have a problem with there castings?, i just thought it would be better then the stamped ones.

If not go to Kirkham's web page select the S/C and options, in the engine section you'll see coolant tank.

Not cheap at $500 but it's carved out of billet aluminum so it's the best quality and the stainless tanks (next best thing) run about the same $$.

Sorry, not paying attention. You need a Pass. side outlet, they may make it that way as well. I have to call Joe tomorrow, so I'll ask.

Talked to Joe today, no-go on the passenger outlet. Since it's a rather limited application it's not really worth their time to write a new program for the CNC mill. I have to admit I think I've only seen one car this way myself...

If your not dead set on the tank there are 90deg outlets available with an inline fill cap. (would be cheaper) As long as the in-line cap is the highest point it should still be able to purge air with a recovery tank. (need to run one anyway)

right now i am running a 342 stroker in my factory five, i have a aluminum degas tank mounted to the pass side f panel wich is around the wheel area.
i am building a 390 fe stroked to a 445 so i am unsure if the engine will hit this tank or if it will be higher then the engine?. thanks for checking.

The "standard" height tank wouldn't fit under the hood of my Lone Star. I'd originally bought one of the stainless steel tanks and the hood hit it while it was still 1/2" open. I had to send the tank back. Southern Auto custom built me a standard brass tank to my height spec. It has been perfect and leak free since I bought it. I ended up liking the black "OEM" look now that I have the tank on.

convincor, what are you using for a radiator?, my ron davis has the outlet on the outside so the degas tank worked great. i may have to have a metal tube made up , also i have my fan switch in the bottom of the degas tank where is yours mounted ?. that is a great price how is the quality?.

this site has pics. the pre 65 tank has the cap toward the passenger side.
The 65-66 it's toward the driver side which puts it about center with the hood opening jiving the most clearance.

ok i need the outlet on the pass side does the cap location matter in the ffr?, also the tube for the overflow would have to be directed to the pass side also my overflow is mounted on top of my radiator with the fitting on the pass side. so what year tank would you reccomend? thanks for the info

I'm using a rad that came from Tri-State.
My tank I actually got from another source that used to have a ebay store. He's not around anymore. Don't think there's a lot of manufacures making them though. I've had 2 or 3 originals before I got the new one and it's just as good if not better than the old ones.
As for the temp sender, right now I have a radiator probe type, but plan on welding a bung into the radiator tank right were the upper hose connects..
But have also been toying with putting it in the expantion tanks 90* tube to keep it closer to the engine..
