Default FE Timing Chain Cover

I was involved in a wreck with my Cobra a little while back and am in the rebuild process. I'm starting with the engine.

If anybody has an extra FE timing chain cover laying around they'd like to sell please give me a hollar. The local junkyard...excuse me..automotive recycling center wants $60 for one if I pull it off. I thought that was a bit high for me pulling it and got the impression the only thing they wish to recycle is my cash.

I also need to replace the Canton oil pan but I seriously doubt there are any of those sitting around collecting dust.

Thanks!

I think I've got one in the attic. Let me go find it, I'll take a pic of it and post it for you later tonight.

Ron,

Send me a PM with your e-mail address, and I'll e-mail you a couple of pic's. I tried to download them here, but it failed, I think the file is too big, or maybe it's me. Anyway, I found an extra. I had to purchase most of my FE parts one at a time, or in boxes of parts, and I wound up with a few extra parts. Its much easier to start with a good running engine as a core for a rebuild! I was going to ebay all of the extra stuff anyway when I had time.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune! Hope the rebuild goes well.

Joe

Thanks Joe! PM sent.

I'm happy the engine appears to be okay. It took a pretty good hit. I've spun it by hand and all looks except for where the timing chain cover and oil pan meet. Looks like one of the tie rod ends got pushed into that area when it broke and damaged them. Good thing it wasn't a small block or the engine may have split in half...lol...

Ron, I picked up quite a few pieces here on the FE forum;

http://www.network54.com/Index/10214

Including a Canton pan, PI intake, timing cover and roller rockers. Lot of good guys over there.

Thank God you're ok ?

I also have a cover if you need it. That's the great thing about us here on CC. Everyone is willing to help others in need, and not just for parts either.

Thanks Kevin, No serious injuries. I'm hoping, I jerked my neck pretty hard which compressed a disc. I was fin for a week then bam, one morning it felt like somebody stabbed a hot iron behind my shoulder blade and my left tricep tightened up and the index finger on that side went numb. Saw a doc they did some xrays found some disc compession at C7,T1. started me on Prednisone. Ran a 10 day course and the pain went away tremendously. when I stopped the prednisone stiffness returned to my shoulderblade and pain started coming back. Yesterday they started me on a 2nd 10 day course of prednisone and within a few hours of the first dose the stiffness began to subside. They also gave me flexoril a muscle relaxer this time. The index finger is still numb but it doesn't hurt too bad so I can sleep. I'm hoping it works this go round. If it doesn't work this time it's off for an MRI and trigger point injections. If that doesn't work they say surgery would be next. I'm not going to go that far. I'd rather have a numb finger than risk back surgery.

You are absoluetly correct though this place has the best guys in world hanging around!

Thanks oldschol, I recieved one yesterday from wideglidejoe.

It is truely a pleasure to have a site where folks are so willing to help each other out. Must be a byproduct of the snake venom flowing through our veins.
