Default Fuel issue

Hi, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have a 427 Fe iron heads 10.5 to 1 comp ratio 2 600 cam 4 barrels. What pump gas would be the best choice, 91 octane non ethanol w/octane booster or 93 high test. I know ethanol beat the crap out carburetors but has a lower octagon level. I don't race my car l just want to enjoy it for weekends and trips without hassles. I have had to rebuild my carbs once I don't need to do it again.

Non ethanol gas listings in NY here https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NY

If you're running 91 w/out pinging your good to go. If not, retarding timing 1-3 degrees can help in most cases.

When not using VP fuel I use Blendzall booster (I'm partial to the smell of Castor from my dirt bike days)

Works great as a upper cylinder wash and volatility damper (aka booster)

I am not 100% familiar how MON and RON convert. I had a 12,5:1 454 (LS-7) once in my car in Germany and we have 98 RON. If your gearing is short and the cam matches the CR you should be able to drive your car.

Listen for pinging at part throttle, but even more important at full throttle (WOT). WOT rarely applies in the US, but on German highways you may find yourself going 160 mph in no time.

I realized that one can hear pinging better, especially with sidepipes, if you wear ear plugs.

Better even, go on a chassis dyno, adjust the timing properly. Retard 3 more degrees for the street, or whatever the dyno operator suggest.

This is a very sensitive topic and as you know too much timing can kill your motor in 10 seconds.
