Ralphy

Hi all,
Looking to pick up a 86 EM soon. Corvette rear and Mustang II front. I am looking to upgrade the front. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am also in the Atlanta area.

Wow Lee. Please tell me you had it insured! There are so many cars available now at some pretty descent prices...Though I must admit I haven't seen a EM listed in awhile. I know you can find someting to work with...and if you can pick something up for the right price you can always change out what you don't like.

Ralphy, There is a fantastic shop just south of you called Jodeco Auto Body, in McDonough Georgia. The owner is Bruce Bunn; one of the nicest, most honest, intellegent men I know when it comes to cars. He is also a Cobra owner along with many other toys (which have been featured in several magazines) and is a certified builder for Unique out of Gasden, Al. If you have questions...he's the man in your area to ask. He did alot of work on my car and repainted it for me after another individual messed it up badly. He was great to deal with and I really don't think I've ever met anyone more honest. I will be happy to get you the number if your interested. Good Luck. ~G

Added some pictures of my car, for the group. We just completed a cruise to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Had great weather, and about 65 Cobra's were in attendance. This is the sixth year for the cruise and the 5th that we have attended. My car was originally built in 1988 and I bought it in 2000. I've since rebuilt everything, and made it into the 9 second quarter car that it is today. It still has the Corvette suspension front and rear, a big SBC, and about 800 horse. Quite a thrill going down the strip.

Hey, I have already talked to Bruce and he really comes across as genuine nice. I called him to get an idea about paint prices. He told me about his FIA listed on Cobra Country. But never tried to be pushy. I can tell he loves his cars and the hobby.

Hey Ralphy, Yes, he really does. Long story short....I took him my car after a guy butchered the paint job along with several other things then gave me a bill for (I'm not kidding) $46,000, $38,000 of which he claimed to be labor on the paint job

. Needless to say I'm in a lawsuit with this guy and after taking my car, Bruce had to have it soda blasted to prepare it for paint again. After he finished with the car he offered to drive 5 hrs.+/-, and give a deposition against the work that guy did and I had to make him let me pay for his hotel and dinner and he refused to be paid as an expert witness and refused gas money. He's a class act. And his paint jobs are worth every penny.

Ginger, there are still good people out there.

Here is one, a guy in St. Louis said to me. A Cobra had always been his dream. When he retired as a auto worker he bought his car. It needed some up-dating, so he took it to a local guy to get an estimate. The next day he drove over to the mechanics place only to find his car totally dismantled. When he talked to the guy, he was given a quote, $37,000.00! This man was not rich living on a retirement, he went through the roof. He then had to spend $5,000.00 just to put it together and get the H out. Now his son is trying to dump this car to cheap. The guy knew it was well worth a higher price then his kid told me. I'm sure he knew just by all the calls he received.

Let me introduce myself. I own an EM Cobra built around 1995 by Larry and Lucas Rea of Texas. They built about five EM cars in the 1990s. Lucas was a SCCA racer and built this car expressly for the track. It has suspension from an 87 Corvette and a special light weight body. After five years of racing, they retired the car, replaced the race engine and put it up for sale. The buyer wanted a street car so they installed a line-lock as a parking brake and turn signals so it would pass inspection to get a title and registration. That owner quickly discovered the car was too uncivilized for his use and sold it after a few months. The next owner also put it back on the market after a few months. When I found the car on Ebay, I was looking for a car I could use both on the street and for autocrossing. When I bought the car it had a bare aluminum faced interior, 17" wheels with Hoosier racing slicks, SCCA decals and five years worth of road rash from track use.
