KSC- Cobra

I'm very close to being able to mount the body on the frame for the last time. I've been trying to think of everything I need to do before I fasten the body down. Can you please help me make a list of anything I need to check or complete before it's too late. There must be something you wish you had done before you attached your body for the last time. thanks

One thing for me was make sure to body was set in the right location front to back.It locates the wheels correctly in the fender wells. The big block cars need the valve cover to firewall clearance. Shim the body to frame mounting points so fiberglass is not
stressed.I used frontend alignment shims.

After you have the cowl set and are ready to set and bond the body make sure you have ratchet straps to pull everything together while the bonding agent cures.
You will need at least four friends to help with lifting.

The other thing I did was drill and tap all the mounting holes (CMC suggested rivets)

mdross1, since having your body on, have you found any work you needed to do to the car that you wished you would have had the body off to perform?

As a matter of fact Yes, two come to mind and both were addressed. First was tuning the motor with fresh plugs the number 8 plug is impossible to reach and way too close to the firewall. Solution, was cut a trap door in the firewall get the plug from inside the footwell carpet hides it.The other was clutch adjustment down on bell housing (our has a cable) another little trap door and a special wrench was made to make that chore a pleasure.

Honestly as I was putting car together tried to think ahead enough to not have to pull the body off. Even with all that knew it was important to spend the time to drill and tap all body mount positions.

KSC- I'm not sure your running a Power Brake Booster but if you are consider and 4 inch square access panel in drivers side wheel well. It would have saved me much grief.

I used several 5/8" grade 8 bolts along with a pile of 1/4" SS long shank rivets to bind the body and tub to the frame. I also put down 3/16" thick hard silicone rubber padding upon the top of the frame for the fiber body to sit on so nowhere is it rubbing steel to glass. I used 3M Panel Bond 2-part epoxy (the nasty black stuff) to wed all fiber panels including the front inner wheel wells and fender parts.
