motor mount options for Street Beast

The kit that my dad ordered was setup for a 460. I am thinking about going in a different direction and was curious what options there are for motor mounts on a 4.6. Are they custom or did they use a factory setup?

I did a quick google search for 4.6 motor mounts and came up with lots of options for you. Most of course are solid mounts. The CJpony parts in the link below look to be an easy fit (very little modifying) for you and are only $70.

How would I know that those mounts would work? I am a little inexperienced with fabbing up motor mounts but I was under the impression that I needed something custom.

The mounts shown below are what I have now for the 460

You wont know until you try something. You will not find a plug-n-play solution. You'll have to do some fabbing in different areas of your build not just the motor mounts. Good luck with the build.

As I remember all that was needed was to set the engine height then drill the frame for the mounts supplied with the kit. I did not fab the frame mounts those pictured look just like the ones I have.

The OP wants to go with a 4.6. Fab work will be neccessary.

Ziggy75: Here is a "before & after" of the motor mounts from Street Beasts. The one on the left is "before" & wouldn't work, so the "after" is a modified version(more angle, to actually lign up with the motor). I used "solid" mounts from Summit Racing. I have a 302, but the same principle would apply for a BB. Good luck! You need a friend with a welder & plasma cutter.

I took a look at the suggested mounts tony laboy gave and then looked at the early 90s thunderbirds K members and motor mounts that had the 4.6. It looks to me that very little fabbing would be needed of the mount. The issue seems to me to be the angle of mount as it reaches the SB Frame rail. You may need to massage this end of the mount to meet the frame flush and give you a solid attachment plate.- If the 4.6 is the way your thinking- I would not let the motor mount fabbing deter you.-Beastly

On second thought may be a hybrid using the 4.6 mount and the SB mount may be easier? Not sure. But my lesson learned on the mounts was that I needed about .5 inch more hood clearance. So I wound up having to lower engine just a bit-then had to use a shorter oil filter to clear the frame rail then had to adjust pinion angle.. Just watch out for the Snowbal
