Side vent installation

Did anyone install the side vents the way the manual instructed? I'm trying to come up with a different method that's more solid/secure. Anyone got suggestions and pics would be helpful as well. Thx

Hello DonB,
Yes I installed the side vents per the manual (pages 4-8 and 4-9 of the CMC manual). I taped some paint sticks on the outside body at the vent openings to cable tie the vents to. That held the vents in position for bonding to the inside body. I needed the help of a narrow spreader stick to apply the bonding sealant to the hard to reach areas. Harry

Thanks, I've been trying out some marine adhesive and some fiberglass blocks with T-nuts in back sides then I've worked up some metal brackets fastened to vents. Is the adhesive the sole attachment of your vents to body?

I looked at mine yesterday and had chosen to use fabbed up mechanical connection using the inner fender liner for one side the firewall for the other. It would be impossible to get good pictures in my case.

Hello DonB,
I installed the two long machine screws as per the manual for alignment but the bonding adhesive does the bulk of the work. I'm satisfied with the structural integrity. Harry
