I've decided to start a new post in which I will log my build and ask questions along the way. A lot of things needed to happen (financially) before I could commit to doing much of anything. You have all seen past pictures of my build but I am now going a different route.

The frame was stripped and painted with Eastwood's ceramic 2k paint. I think this looks much better than the old paint that my dad rattle canned back in 2004.

Ceramic 2K paint that is sprayed with paint gun. Seems pretty durable.

I have decided to go a different direction with my engine. Overall, the cost of rebuilding the 460 was way more than I wanted to mess with.

This is a 4.6 DOHC from a 97 Mark VIII. Had 103,000 miles on it and I picked it up complete for $400. I ended up getting the remaining wiring harness and computer for an extra $150. My plans are to get a tuner and disable the PATS and remove what wiring I dont need. I will not use A/C and at the moment, PS is questionable. The car is already set up with a power steering rack so that is why I am not sure. I am afraid of the pump being too much with the weight of the front end. This engine weighs around 450 lbs.

So far, it looks like I will be able to use the SB 460 frame bracket for the motor mount. As of right now, I am using the upper Mark VIII motor mount bracket that is attached to the engine. Using a block of wood for a spacer temporarily. It looks like I can get one of those universal round mounts and use here.

I do have a few concerns at the moment. This engine is very large. Much larger than the 460 that was previously bolted in. At this point, my engine appears to be off center slightly. As shown below, I am off slightly. The mark on pulley bolt washer is center. Do you think this will be noticeable?

Bolted to an 05 Mustang T3650 5 speed. Not sure if I will use this transmission. I have concerns with length. I got the transmission for free so I will not be out any money. To those that are unaware, there is an external shifter that mounts to top rear end of this transmission. It will add approximately 5-6 inches in length where the shifter will be.

This will need to be lowered (obviously). Will need to order a mount for this and it looks like it will line up perfectly to the SB mount that my dad ordered with his kit. Just need to wait to verify length on this transmission.

I have a chrome IDIDIT ordered along with an upper steering mount. I have a radiator on order as well. It was the same part number that was mentioned in this SB board under the post regarding 'cooling'. I cannot remember who it was at the moment that suggested this part number.

Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on how to address the headers. I looked at Shell Valley and didnt see any 4.6. I think factory five has them though. Looking at the side of the engine, does anyone know how much distance should be between the firewall and the header? I am not ready to set body on to verify but I would like to get some headers before I can mount engine and before I make any final plans for the steering intermediate shaft.

Ziggy,

The Frame looks great! The exhaust will exit pretty much centered between the front of the foot box and the inner fender. If you mock-up the inner fender you should be able to get a good idea of placement and routing needed for headers and side-pipes.

Not much to report. I swapped out the old sending unit that came with the SB and put in this electric fuel pump from In-Tank. Its a 255 lph setup.

My biggest issue now is running my fuel line. I will need to run the supply and return. I will be using a -6AN that comes out to being 5/8 OD. There doesnt appear to be much room between the driveshaft and frame so my thoughts are to put a hole in part of the frame and run the line under the area where the seats go.
