What did you guys use to make the openings in the body? I am referring to the headlights, exhaust, side vents, etc. I thought about getting a rotozip but I am unsure if this would do it.

Hello ziggy75,
I gathered what ever tools that I had on hand to work for the various cutting jobs. Straight drills, step drills, hacksaw blades, reamers, flat and round files, sandpaper. Try to protect the surrounding areas with masking tape. Suggest wearing dust mask, rubber gloves, safety glasses and use a vacuum cleaner to keep the mess down to see what you're doing. I think that you could use the rotozip to rough out areas and finish with the hand tools to not make any cutting mistakes. Do some practice cuts and don't rush. Think of the job as sculpting and fine tuning your car and feeling good about the outcome. Harry

thanks for the suggestion. i am not too concerned about most areas except the headlight openings. :/

On the headlight openings I tried to use it the pattern supplied but it no where's near lined up. I ended up cutting the hole for the headlight bucket to fit thru out of poster board, then fitted it over backside of headlight assy. and traced around the chrome trim ring and cut it out. Then I had a viable pattern that I was able to tape to the body and marked cut line w/a sharpie marker. I then drilled a hole and used an air powered body saw (very controllable and not so much mess). Rest of the openings I used the same saw to remove most of the panel then used a 2" roloc disc on the right angle die grinder while my son ran the shop vac to suck up the majority of the dust. Worked pretty good for me!
