Hi guys!
Been away from the forum due to professional commitments, now that I will be fully retired as of this Friday

, I think I will have more time to play with the beast.
Last Sunday the navigator (wifey) got a bit upset at the effect of the sun on her and she is pleading for a top (hard to is out of the question-- I will not fit in the car with it) .
Has anyone come up with something to rig up a soft top for our cars? I know that our manufacturer

showed the car with the soft top but where can we get this? From the WCC brochure.

I have had Posted this contact before, but wanted to check before posting it on again. I just spoke with Missy at Donald's Upholstery (704-392-2931). They used to make the soft tops for Vern many years ago. Missy said Mike sold the shop in 2007 but still works there, and they were just talking about this. She will talk to Mike, but thought he would be interested in making them again.
Let us know. I may grab one also.

Guys,
I am out of the country and the time difference is huge (morning coffee right now) and I cant call them for 2 weeks. If someone talks to them in the meantime I would be interested also for the right top. Year #2 in summer heat (110 degrees) and I can see myself using the soft top. Need side curtains also. Maybe if 3 or 4 are needed they will do a run.

We, apparently, are waiting for your return. I'm very interested as this seems to be the best lead so far to actually getting my car completed with a top. If I get anything it'll have to be custom made, anyway and that means $$$. I need one for emergencies like pop up thunder storms or trips.

UPDATE !
I called Donald's Upholstery and spoke to Missy. She has personal experience with Vern and the West Coast cars. She told me that the only way to make a top fit the way it needs to is to have the car there to do the work. It will be realistic to expect $2200. or more to complete the top. This means that each will be on a individual basis and cannot be mass produced without flaws or problems fitting each car with variations in the body and windscreens assembly. I may end up driving my car to Charlotte N.C. where they are located to fit my top early next year. It is a quality product made from canvas like the photographs on Vern's web page.
