Ride quality took a minor hit, but I have QA1 single-adjustable shocks all around - coilovers on front and shocks on rear. That allows me dial up or dial back as necessary. Our roads are full of frost cracks and other imperfections, but I haven't softened the shocks since going from 15" to 17" tires. YMMV.

Interestingly, the front wheels were made in the USA, while the rears were made in China - and lighter than the fronts, even though they're 1.5" wider. The specs don't show them as lighter, but they definitely were when I took them out of the boxes. In hindsight I guess I should have weighed them at that point but, frankly, I wanted to get the tires installed so I could drive it.
