She likes the new Blue one from the show

I'm ecstatic that you hate it. Please spread the word to others about how awful it is. Then maybe they won't sell all 300 of the first year's production and I'll be able to get one.

This car is a return by Ford to the strategy of the 60's. The homologation Cobras and GT40s were street-ified race cars.. They didn't enjoy much of a "comfortable grocery getter" reputation. The Ford GT was a street car that some "upped" to race. The new Ford GT is starting life as a race car and getting street things ADDED to it. It's designed to be best in its class. If that means the street car is a little untidy and uncomfortable, well just remember the Cobra and GT40.

Where would you suggest to get the best updated info on this new model?

For WhiteBirchFarm:

Bret knows but just a warning on the Ford GT forum: It is an OWNER'S forum. Non-owners are expected to be seriously looking for a car (A ford GT, not the thing in the future) before posting more than a handful of posts. It's his sandbox and he does watch. Lurk all you want, but be careful about posting. Use SEARCH a lot - chances are if you're going to ask a question or make a statement it has already been done and you won't eat into your non-member budget. If you want full access feel free to buy my 2006 Heritage as it is for sale.

Not interested in the former GT but thanks for the advice. I was just gathering information for the future model. I really do not have the time to contribute here but will be reading from time to time and will continue my behind the scene conversations.

I think that the $250K plus price is nuts. It shouldn't be twice the price of a zr1. The zr1 is a kick ass car. I would buy if it was around $150. At 250 I'll but a Ferrari

I think we all know how it will go. Similar to the Ford GT when it rolled out around 2006...some guys will buy them and store them for a few years, then they will show up at B-J or some other auction with 200 miles on them for double the price they paid.
Just sayin'...

Obviously not too interested in the new GT, but am interested in the Focus RS that Ford has been promising.

AWD 350HP 2 door lightweight...WHERE IS THAT, FORD??? That's what I want.

Ford literally has its engineers hiding in a basement getting this hen tooth made, all along promising us the Focus, and presto-chango the liars say what we really planned was this trillion dollar garage troll for the .001 % and all you common folk who actually believed we would give the likes of you a TRUE performance car can just pick up your toothbrushes and get back to cleaning the grout lines in our bathrooms.

The RS is coming, and to the US. The GT program did/does not affect the RS program in any way.

Patience grasshopper................

No one that is not willing or able to spend $500K+ is going to get one. Period.

Very limited build and very high price.

It's cool but steps away from classic GT40 in a major way. Ford merely build their own Porsche 918 or McLaren 650S or Aventadore, or Enzo (take your pick) and called it the new "GT". It was in now way or manner intended to be a return or reissue of an updated GT40 like the Petunia GT.

REAL 1,
I agree, but still think that Ford did it because they know the mid-engine 'Vette is coming and they have to keep up if they want to compete on the race circuit, which they have apparently committed to via the Ganassi commitment. It's definitely a rich man's game and way out of most folks wheelhouse, and that would include mine!

$249,000 has been bantered about in the Ford tents.

Of course whether they will hold the DAV markup to a minimum will be the key to the final selling price.
