I tell people it is built like the original and thus has the plusses and minuses of the original!

When I asked Superformance if there could be some adjustment for a taller person, they were rather curt and said, "no".

Please do not lump "Superformance" in general to the person you talked to. I can send you to several dealers who will be genial and can make adjustments to accommodate larger/taller people. Again not everyone will fit but I have a 6'4" customer driving a MK I. I don't know who was "curt" to you and don't need/want to know so you don't need to call them out here, but I know most dealers will take all the time you want to ensure you are comfy with both the car and the process.
I hope you enjoy the heck outta your RCR. As I have said often "the best car is the car you like and can buy"

I sat in four or five of them before I decided to run with RCR. I am just too tall. When I asked Superformance if there could be some adjustment for a taller person, they were rather curt and said, "no".

I view this as Ford's car. Their continuation series is the Ford GT...and to be avaialbe in 2016 the new version as shown on episode 106 of Leno's Garage.

If you want to see a truly rare GT40, Leno drives the 289 street version down the street.

Just my opinion.

How tall is too tall? I'm looking but I'm 6'2".

I have a SPF GT40 with a 6'5" owner. It depends on your body type, i.e. long torso vs. long legs. Long legs are easier to accommodate than a very tall torso. You can take foam out of the seat as they are just laid in the tub so easy to custom form to fit you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more leg than torso but I'm going to have them measure
from seat to roof to see if it's worth flying out for a fit test.

Where are you? We may have an owner that will let you try the fit out.

Things like 6K toilets are indeed (to me) fluff. But try putting vinyl windows in a 750K house. Try putting down laminate wood flooring instead of 3/4" oak flooring.

Anyway, back to the GT40 discussion.

Don't underestimate the joy of a high-end Japanese toilet.

And every new house must have a bidet too.

By the way, when rodneym wanted a paint job, he didn't take his Cobra to Maaco or Earl Schieb. He went to the best in his area, McCluskey. What do you think his expectations were for his paint job?

I was given a quote of between 25-30K to repaint mine and that was in 2010. That number was from both McCluskey and the Murray brothers.

Does anyone know what the price is for the non-50th version that has been available for a few years?

As of August 2015, the new SPF GT40 roller price was $110,000 option-less. I'll bet they've gone up a bit since then.

Still $109,900 for a roller, MK I or MK II in SPF form.

So, if I read this right it's a $50k upcharge for the 50th anniversary?
Same car, a MK II ready for an FE, right?

That is what I was getting at originally, there is no way that they added $50K worth of materials to the car. I still think that about $10-$20K for an install above the price of the engine and transmission is a little steep. Pretty good money for an install. I do not imagine that they will have too much difficulty finding people who have to have one, and as others have pointed out, those buyers will not cheap out on the install and other goodies. If you have enough money to consider dropping $230K on a car, what's a few few more thousand dollars anyway. This is not the car that somebody in the middle class who worked hard and saved all of his money is going to buy and then have to cheap out on at the end.

Yep. But that is from Shelby, not Superformance.

A high quality install from an experienced installer on a GT40 is $5-8000 for a standard FE setup not including parts.

Just like these Shelby had a special edition. It was his 85th birthday edition. They never built all of them just like they won't these. But the regular cars were still in the spf catalog.

Here is from 2008
