New GT40 in the Garage
Hello All,
The SPF GT is home in the garage and has 250+ miles on it. The new baby is living beside its older brother in the remodeled garage. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...aby_Garage.jpg The only issue is that out on the road the traffic in front of us has a problem with approaching way to fast.:LOL::LOL::LOL: Engine Pic.... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...DSCF000612.jpg Tony R. |
Very nice indeed.. I am more than just a little envious...have fun
|
Very nice. How do you decide which one to drive?
|
Very nice!
|
Tony, you're my hero. Outstanding. I love those Gulf colors.
|
Growing up, my Dad worked for Gulf Oil, and I remember him bringing home a copy of "Lemans" when it came out to watch on a projector. Gulf was a sponsor of the film, as I remember. Anyway, I'm definitely a big fan of the Gulf colors, and if/when the stars align correctly, I'll be working with the fine folks at SPF to acquire a suitably attired GT40!
Fantastic stable you have there. |
As Marvin Zindler (ABC Newsman) would say in Houston, "Its hell to be poor"
|
Which engine is in the Gt
|
I was thinking at one time going with the Daytona but when I look at the GT my mind has been changed for good..
|
Is there any visability problems towards the side and back of car.
|
Wow!
Love what you've done with the place. |
Alan.....I saw the 2 time Gulf winner in the lobby of the Gulf Oil building as a young man and have been lusting since then. I was born and raised in the Burgh and I was in between tours in RVN in 1970
TRS9....it is a custom built( Neil Ruegseger) Dart Aluminum block with webers 427 cu. in. Bolted up to the ZF transaxel used in the BMW M1 3:77 ring gear...some pics in my gallery. Also with the mirrors on the front fenders and some visibility from the center mounted rear view mirror it is fine on the highway. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...Engine_005.jpg jwd....just go with feels right at the time, it is good to have choices TR |
Now thats an engine
|
Wow! I stand in my garage and think "Man there is nothing better than a cobra in my garage."
Now I have a new dream! |

That SPF really looks great. I have been thinking about one. I have the Ford GT in Gulf colors and would love to get the SPF also. If I may ask, which dealer did you get it from? I am going to Dynamic motorsports next week to look at the SPF Cobra that they are finishing and will also look at the GT40's they have.
How does it handle compared to the cobra? |
DJ,
I have driven a Ford GT and the GT40 is a very different beast. I bought my car from Dynamic and it was delivered in Reno. There is a lot of work to make the Mark I rear clip fit compared to the Mark II. I have also driven a CAV GT40 and the fit /finish of the SPF roller is at a much higher level. IMHO :):) No comparison between the Cobra and GT rear/front engine, smaller lower package/monocoque structure vs a heavier traditional framed car.....very different but, the GT is more comfortable on the road at speed. 100+ mph in my Cobra gets your attention and keeps it, 100+ mph in the GT40 is calm/anticlimatic/steady and you know that it will stay that way to 150+. The Cobra has a 4-speed top loader with 3:54 gears in the rear end and at 100 it is turning 4400 RPM the GT has a 3:77 ring gear with a 5th gear in the ZF and is turning 3100 RPM at 100. TR |
Life sucks! and I am sooo jealous:CRY: , congratulations on two way too cool cars. :MECOOL:
