Default The New Hurricane

I am proud to post this press release, outlining the acquisition of Hurricane Motorsports by Scranton Manufacturing of Scranton, IA.

Hurricane Motorsports Announcement

As you can imagine, the discussion is exciting on the Hurricane discussion site.

I am certain more posts will come from the upcoming Run N' Gun which they plan to attend and rub shoulders with various owners.

More to follow

I suspect the outcome of the FFR issue will once and for all put this issue to rest.

I suspect this issue was addressed before the purchase of the assets from the SEC. According to publicly available info on the web, Scranton Mfg is hardly a new small company based on revenues, number of employees and length of time in business. And unlike the prior Arlington, TX-based Hurricane, they actually have more than one guy who can weld.

No doubt if Ole What's His Name prevails in the FFR matter, several replica makers will have to face the music. In the meantime, the engineers at Hurricane are already at work interfacing with existing owners and commencing with building an initial run of cars. Exciting times.

Fact, FoMoCo OWNS the name COBRA, gives permission to Shelby to use it. If you don't protect your trademarks ,you lose them. That being said, why subject your new endevor to litigation when you have NO rite to the name COBRA.

or maybe the new owners do not know about the pass history of Cobra law suits

If they read our comments and make the appropriate changes, they may avoid a law suit

they may know and everything is just fine the way it is.

Uh....YES! And we all are very excited (Paul was emailing me well after the chickens went to sleep last night.) The new owners have extensive engineering and manufacturing experience and are well capitalized. They are interfacing with the owner group and a lot of planning is underway to really deliver a nice replica for the money. As was mentioned on an earlier thread, the new owners are at Run 'n Gun today getting acclimated with this sport. What's not be be excited about?

This is great news! The Hurricane Motorsports brand will live on and continue to develop and grow the way founders had hoped.
When you look at the new owner's website, it appears that they are savvy, principled businessmen with a great track record in turning around and growing small companies.
I believe HM will emerge from the cloud of the previous owners (Bernie Madoff - wannabes) better and stronger than ever.
Now, if only the economy would improve so people actually have disposable income for toy budgets again!
Matt

The New Hurricane Owners are pretty interesting guys. I think they will do a very good job of making Hurricane a force in the industry.

It appears that the new owners (Scranton) is a solid Company with on-board facilities, skills and assets to properly build the Hurricane SC 427. I also think they must be pretty "savy" regarding trademark laws and existing law suits in the replica industry.

I think it's great to have a well diversed organization taking over a product like Hurricane Motorsports.
I'm looking for very positive results in the future.... Matts right...start saving your money to buy the car.
Bill

This is indeed great news. I saw an HMS car at Knotts and then again at a car club meeting last Saturday. I am VERY impressed with the quality and originality of the car. I wish them all the best in succeeding building more HMS cars.

It is good to see that the new owners' business success is not based exclusively on manufacturing and selling replica roadsters. This is a good sized, family owned business, that is in the fabricating business - producing a range of specialty products incorporating design, engineering, fabrication in addition to marketing, sales, and distribution. They are in a position to utilize in-house assets without pressure for revenue from the Hurricane product to "stay alive". Should be a very good fit.
