I might have to post some photos of my Holden in-line-six wannabe Cobra from Jakarta pieced together with VW, BMW and Fiat parts if ya all keep this up...just enjoy the differences and polish your own car.

I don't know how to make it clearer than that. I've used self-deprecating and qualifying language to demonstrate that I have no attitude or ERA superiority complex. I didn't create a 'mine's bigger" contest. No 'tone' or innuendo. To those of you who see it that way, I'm calling BS. You guys must want to see it that way. Now that's my attitude.
I just wanted a technical discussion about the H'cane chassis from someone(s) who really knows. I asked for the mfgr to join in and explain the design features. I got a guy that played 3D games and a few who saw it in person and think it's just dandy. They signed up to buy it. Still no info from the parent company.
ERA doesn't need me to shill cars for them. Although it does not take 2 years to get one as Dean conveniently exaggerates, they have a waiting list that buyers gladly seem to endure and write about here.

First off, I'm not a structural engineer or chassis expert. Clear? I have seen several SPF cars' chassis from under a lift but have no real opinion because I've not seen a bare chassis or accurate frame diagrams. So no opinion.

The fuel tank is fabbed and as it comes from ERA and is bolted to the rear rails with four 3/8 bolts on each side by a flange on it. No straps. The bars are options for track use on ERA's and some mfgrs geometry does not require/offer them.

Once again you demonstrate your enlightenment. Some ERA owner in a parking lot pissed you off because you decided he was a snob. So you immediately judge all ERA owners as such. I'm now sure he parked elsewhere, not because of other replica makes and originals, but because he recognized you and figured this was the reserved parking area for a$$holes.
Also great empirical and substantial info that: "According to the FFR guys, the ERA frame is crap." You're hopeless. Please use the 'ignore' function.

As an owner going on a sixth replica I'm surprised you think I've got an axe to grind. You've seen a lot of designs and found no questions about the H'cane you selected. You owned a B&B which has a reputation as a more 'overbuilt' chassis than any other. (Strength through weight). You make some lame accusations for a guy that should know better. I never wrote ERA's were better than K's or anyone elses. Surprised you think my 'tone' makes me an ass.
Bottom line: If I owned a JBL, KMP, M'states, FFR or any other-I'd have posed the same questions-namely- why all the excitement and positive buzz about the new H'cane's chassis?
I've still NOT gotten any factual technical answers. And now no longer care to know.

Geez, you guys are becoming as sensitive as the people on the Early911S Forum. Talking about picking the flypoop out of the pepper.
This thread has been working fine for me. Chas and Patrick, while ERA owners seemed to me to be using a deft touch with comparing and contrasting the Hurricane and ERA frames.
I'm reading it and enjoying it, up until, that is, Dean bashed the torsional rigidity of the Kirkham frame.

Patrickt, I haven't dug through all of your photo's, so I didn't see it but does your car have ERA's optional IRS unit?
Having looked at both a number of times and having past racing experience, I would think the optional suspension would be worth the extra $ IMO.

I want to thank you one and all for this thread, it has made my day. I even laughed out loud a couple of times. Everyone of you have nice cars or you wouldn't be so passionate about them. And most of us have an idea of what we think is "correct' or better. I think it depends on which side of the glass you are looking through.
I have a POS B&B that I plan on keeping forever because it is something I built. I wouldn't recommend a B&B to anyone else for several reasons but I like mine. Every one of us are Type A personalities (some are more subtle than others but Type A's just the same) and we do have our opinions. I have driven and assisted on just about every Cobra replica out there and each have their strong points. I like Hurricane and I like ERA but I also like Backdraft, Shell Valley, FFR, and Superformance, and many others. I am just hoping that Tony Martin with Backdraft or Fran with RCR decides to make a Daytona Coupe someday because those guys do some exceptional work.
By the way I have a couple Daytona Coupes from two different companies at my house right now, both were touched by an evil doer that lacked funding and passion. I am making them better and what I consider right. You may disagree and that's Ok!
