Default First Hurricane Drive

After 4+ years Hurricane #1011 hit the road today. No paint or carpet but what an incredible ride. No vid either I had my handsfull with the KC 427. Did the alignment yesterday with turnplates and a bubble caster camber gauge. Ended up with no pull a straight steering wheel and very easy wheel effort. I really thought this would possibly be an ILL handling rough riding car but I am very impressed. Very smooth and can take my hands off the wheel and cruise in a straight line. I will be pulling MAN CARDS for the ones saying 450 Hp is more then enough for these cars. At 563 HP and 583 TRQ 373 gears TKO 600 .64 final it would be hard to create a better combination in a Hurricane or even any off brands . IMO. And yes you will still use 1st gear. Dan #1011

Dan, great report! Its time to pass out the cigars!

What color are you going to paint it? I hope I'm in a similar position in a few months.

Congratulations on keeping the rubber on the road the first time out! Can't wait to see the final photo's. I'm a little envious, Hurricanes were way up on my list of manufactures I wanted.

Congratulations and welcome to the family! Like John said, be careful. I had a pucker experience early on when I tapped the gas (didn't even push the pedal half way) in third gear to pass a car and saw the tail of my car coming around to pass the front. Call it sideways as sixty!
What are your plans for paint?
Enjoy.
Matt

Default Paint

Actually the Kit and powertrain choices were easy and obviously the best decisions made. Paint is a real hair puller. Spent a little on practice colors such as Brandywines but may end up with a metallic dark charcoal and graphite type stripes, So many colors, to me this is the final result of our hard labor. Black has always been my color but so hard to maintain. Silvers are a very sharp looking color but at some angles they look like primer waiting for paint, also many very nice blues and reds. Bottom line is it's my choice but the hardest one to be made. Dan #1011

JWD your car is one reason I lean to silver. Matt, you are right about the go pedal, just a few throttle pushes in this car makes you respect the HP. Dean, You already know we are all looking forward to your build and your input. Everyone please keep us posted

That's great Dan!
I still think you should clean up that messy garage though!

Grats on your new ride. I'm still up in the air on what I'll end up getting. I'm sitting at 19k saved. It's either gonna be a hurricane kit that I build myself or an already build cobra (whatever looks good and is within my budget).

Knowing me I'll end up buying an already built one cause the cash will be burning a hole in my pocket.

Glad to see you are on the road, 1081 is still a long way off. Hpe you can post some more photos soon, I'd vote for titanium and silver....but then gel coat/ primer is easier to fix road rash in.....

Dan, congrats ! the real fun starts now and will continue everytime you get behind the wheel.
I just found out that Jim Koepke who lives in Minnesota just bought a vacation home in Havasu City. Now there will be two Hurricanes in Havasu, maybe we all can meet up sometime.....like the Route 66 Fun Run next year.
Post a picture when you get it painted.

Dan....get some paint chips and throw them up on the dash of your daily driver and look at all the colors in the different light as you drive around during the day and night and the color will come to you....congrats on the maiden voyage....now enjoy.
