Default brake light ground wire question

My car 1121 is so close to being done I stayed up all night chasing tail......
tailights that is . One side is more dim than the other with the running lights
on. A local street rodder is coming to look and suspects a poor ground ?
I ran the engine for 30 mins and no leaks and sounds like heaven (TY Keith
Kraft Engines ! .........yippeeeee.

So my question is this : Should I run an extra ground to the rear frame
from the tail light ? Also to Cobra Club members please give you opinions.
In this current economy , I feel sure that me and HM 1121 are in a serious
relationship ! haha ........thanks , Mike

Mike,
You say the brake light is dimmer on one side than the other. Is the parking light perhaps brighter on that side than the other too? If so, the wiring to the two filament bulb is reversed. ... You can quickly check the poor grounding theory by running a jumper cable from the tail light ground to a known good ground. If the light gets brighter, you've found the problem. If not, it's something else.

Great pictures....I'm getting excited just looking at it. Congrats Mike.
Extra grounding is always a good idea, reduces potential problems down the road.

The leads from the bulb housing are reversed OR the bulb itself is fitted 180 degrees out. Doubt it's the ground.

Each taillight should go to a common ground. If you are use one, then all the better.

If you have to, use an OHM meter to find the right wire.

You might want to consider soldier each connection then shrink-wrap. If you can use the bonding type wrap even better.

Tests should be done with a 12V Power Supply at each light. If they are dimmed different and tied to a common ground, then try bulbs.

LED lights may be a challenge in that they may load differently. If there is a challenge with this, try a loading resistor or "other" load that can be screwed to the frame for cooling purposes.

Hope this helps.

am back to working on HM 1121 again. I am also getting a Piper J-5 Cub ready for
inspection . I am very close to finishing both !! Yipeeeee

Mr. Jay Nordstrom will never forget the day he called me and told me my car was stolen !
This car has been a cat with nine lives . I also agree the bulb is probably turned and I have some very easy to fix problems. I ran the car today and got me a case of Cobra flu. I have also been fighting some serious health problems and things are looking up .
