I have a original Shelby 428 FE that his team built in glory days. 560 hp. Never over heats. It 90 (+) deg. traffic, it may get to 210. This year with a better cooling fan & shroud, I'm sure this will bring it down further.

I'm runing a 429 with no heating problems at all. The engine compartment does have a fan shroud that doesn't "waste" any of the air flow coming in from the nose.

In the Hurricanes, I know of two with one more being planned. I have not heard of any cooling troubles.

I have a chevy big block and I do have over heating if I stop for any length of time.I do not have a hood scoop and I am going to install one with a cool air box under the carb and will see if that helps.

Desert Cobra...sort ofa Hot Head!
Dan, I have a SA 428 FE in my Hurricane and it is great fun. It tends to run a little hot in traffic, but cool on the road when there is plenty of air flow.
I just installed a full fan shrold on the puller fan and will be testing it soon to see if it helps. In addition, I have not had all the alum. ducting in place prior to completing the bodywork so that alone may help.
Another thing, here in Lake Havasu City, AZ. its 90 degrees at 6 AM and 120 on some days during the summer, so the poor snake doesn't have chance to get too cool.
Anyway, see you later, Bill

482FE w/Fan shroud and big amp alternator to run it. No problem.
It is hot in So. MD in the summer months.
Airflow at stop lights seems to be a big factor.

Custom Hood to fix overheating problem
In the past I had overheating problems. Also, the car was limited on the amount of space under the hood to fit a PROPERLY sized air cleaner to feed a BB at 6500 RPM. I was forced to make a completely new hood and master mold. Take a look at my pictures.
The car will not overheat, even in stop and go traffic!

Counterflow radiator
I am using a dual path radiator in mine to increase cooling efficiency. Both ports are on the drivers side.
