Default Bullitt Wheels

Hello all,

I just ordered Hurricane #1099 and I'm eagerly awaiting October so I can go pick the kit up. In the meantime I'm trying to get some things squared away (garage organizing, engine prep, tranny, wheels, etc.) I'm wondering if anyone has used the Ford Racing Bullitt wheels on a Hurricane. I'd like to use 17 x 9 with 5.95" backspacing for front and 17 x 10.5 with 6.9" backspacing on rear. Will these work? What fitment issues will I be looking at? I am using the standard brake/suspension package that Hurricane offers in the kit.

Also, for any who are experienced, what size tires would look best with these wheels on a Hurricane?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,
The backspace you will want for a 9 inch wide front wheel will be more like 5 inches instead of 5.95. The 5.95 inch back space will have the wheel and tire about an inch deeper inside the fender than what you will want. The rear back space for a 10.5 inch wheel should be 4.5 inches. With a 6.9 inch back space you will 2 1/2 inches too deep inside the rear fender. I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need anything else.

Have a look at www.wheelsforless.com

They have great prices on the vintage series of American racing wheels and you can order them with custom offsets. I'm going to push the envelope a little and go with the 17x11 5" BS and 17x8 4" bs cobra 427 wheels with 315/35's on the rear and 245's on the front. I was warned that the 11" wheel might be just a hair too wide, but if i need, I'll get a small spacer.
