Default How many of you are running BB 460's?

How many of you are running BB 460's? How do they fit in the Hurricane's? What types of modifications did you have to do to fit the motor in the car? And how is the horse power in such a light car?
Thanks again for the info,
Josh

Great Idea,

I had the 460 in SPF #343 and it was great....it still is....... the man that bought the car has put 20,000 miles on it since then and he loves driving the "Beast". I know of four others that have a 460 of varying potency in their Cobra with nothing but smiles.

Do not know about the hurricane but, it works really well in an SPF.

Have you asked Mike or Rich at Hurricane about the 460? I know of one builder using a late model OHC cam engine and they are about the biggest (physically speaking) engine made. I would think a 460 would fit unless maybe height is the issue.
Give them a call.

I have a hurricane and I put a 460 in it. It will fit without too much trouble, but it sits so far down in the frame that you don't have a lot of ground clearance. I also used the victor junior intake and it is so tall that the standard scoop will not fit, I had to go with an after market about 3.5 to 4 inches tall. You will also have to go with a hydraulic throw out bearing because the fork will hit the frame and if you cut it off to clear you loose all your leverage for a slave cylinder to work. I also stroked and bored the engine to a 521 and put the super cobra jets heads on it and this thing has so much power and torque it will spin the tires in third gear from a dead stop. if I had it to do over again I don't think I would go the 460 route mainly because of the ground clearance problem more than anything else.
