For whatever it's worth, guys I know that run
MSD digital 6AL boxes who experienced failure
connected a MSD 8830 Noise Filter Capacitor
into the 12V BEFORE going into the CDI box.
8830 cleans up the power and provides spike
protection. None have failed since.
