Default JBL Daytona Coupe @ Hallett

here's a video from 3/27/15 at Hallett. Sound is poor, so turn it down. My first time with the car handling well and on Hoosiers too. It was a fun day. 1:30 was my best lap, I think I ran better the next day but had traffic. my last lap of the video was setting up to be good....until I spun.... Oh well.

Glad to hear it's on the road. Been wondering what was going on with your build.

Let's see some photos of the finished car.

Always like seeing track video. Even the 'mishaps'.

Thanks for the video, Mat! I enjoyed riding along. That uphill, off-camber turn 4 always makes me queasy. I know I leave a few hundredths of a second on the table there. 1:30 sounds great, your line looked perfect, brake later, and you'll get some more seconds off. When you have gone off every corner, you'll know what not to do Wish I had been there with you!

Mat

The video brought back many memories. I always liked Hallett and won many races there with my 280zx, it was a drivers track, and you are doing great. I'm glad to see you and the car coming around, the more practice the better you get.
Keep up the good work...

Hey guys the track was just re-surfaced and all the bumps are gone. Nice fresh asphalt and a good set of slicks makes all the difference in the world.

Join us next time.

Good to hear from you John, Sammy, Morris. Thanks for the kind words. The car was fun to dial in this past weekend. Still need some more dialing, but need seat time more for sure. I rode with the lead instructor in his Boss302 to remind me what a driver can do. I didn't know race slicks could howl like that....mind don't. Maybe I can get a squawk or two from them next time.

Your right on the brakes Sammy. I'd love to brake later like I can in Dad's car, pedal was getting quite squishy in turn 2 & 9, not very comforting. May need to upgrade pads next time too.

Don't forget the 600 deg F brake fluid ... Wilwood or Motul. Had my brakes go completely away up there using normal DOT4 stuff.

Glad you are on the track Mat. Car looks great on the track. Wish I could have come, would have been a good time trying to keep up with you. The track sold me some Elf fluid last time I was there, good stuff, that and the Hawk HP+ pads.

Anyone going to the Lake Garnett event in October?

A few pics from Hallett. Had a lot of fun. New tires, steering was working better than ever...no bump steer, brakes....only so so...new pads on order will fix that.

Vroom! Vroom! Looks like you need some more camber. A guy I ran with down there had a homemade GT1 vette with similar brake setup but smaller and ran similar times or slightly better with no brake problems. You riding the brakes?

Not riding, just not stopping like it should. I pulled the pads and found they were BP20 compound, basically street pads. Ordered a new set (A compound) to fix the issue. Can't wait to try them. I'll need to check tire temps next time to see if camber needs adjusting.

Those A's should be like night and day looking at the graphs. Let us know how they work.
