Just a question but how has the thread starter overdone anything? Especially since he is a contributing vendor? In response to Toycollector I have called Kieth and left him a message to post on this topic. I asked him to give information on his dyno and the NEW CNC machine that they have...really cool piece of kit...there are only 2 in the US and the other on is at DEI Racing. I personally don't try to start crap on threads especially since I dont' even have a Keith Craft motor but I have seen the engines...I have seen the Dyno's...I have seen the difference a set of mufflers on your pipes make to the HP numbers. We really need to get out of this bashing people when they try to contribute to the forum...its just like the Shelby bashing...you may not like him but hey if he isn't selling you a car then who cares. Another thing to consider is I believe James's motor is a standard bore shelby block...I think you can get really close to 800 on pump if you use the new big bore block but Keith can answer that question. That is for Keith to decide for himself. He has a certain amount of ability to post about his motors, just as folks have the ability to respond, positively or negatively, about the manner or amount of such posts. Such comments do not constitute bashing...I've read nothing that says anything bad about his motors. The issue raised by some is how much is enough. Brent has made it clear to folks who buy space at this site that he would appreciate some cooperation in this regard, whether it be Cobra mfgs or engine builders. Take a look at the Advertisers Forum. Some builders allow their customers to do the talking, but are available to answer questions. Others believe in self-promotion. Like I said, it is for Keith to consider for himself. Yes, folks can turn the page, but at some point they might just decide that a site is nothing but advertisements rather than discussion. |

Personnaly I like hearing about all these motors expecially since I know most of the people. I would encourage Keith to continue posting this info as he sees appropriate.
If you didn't see James last car you missed out because it is one of the nicest ever! This trick motor Keith built is only the beginning of his next car which I'm sure will raise the bar again. I hope we continue to get updated on James' build. This shouldn't be a thred to fight over it should be one to drool over. I know I followed every one closely while waiting for my motor. Congradulation James I can't wait to hear it run. When does the car get here. John |
Jamo did not say the thread starter over did it,he said to let the starter "Decide" if he over did it so as to perhaps help control future problems. He may very well decide his thread was fine,and that should be ok.No censorship needed. chuck

WOW!!!. I was wondering when I would hear about the dyno results today. I got a call from Mr. Aislers telling me to look on CC. That is absolutely wonderful guys! I can't wait to see it. Keith built another great 640hp engine for me about two weeks ago and didn't post it so I do think he is being selective on what he posts. It is pretty sad though.... I have two motors that Keith Craft has built and they are both now sitting without cars :( 6 more weeks for the first one though... I can't wait :) |

I don't think Pat personally attacked anyone at the outset, just stated his opinion. What followed were personal attacks. Personally, I would like to have some basis to measure the dyno results--I am not saying they are not true. Because, if you can make 800 HP on pump gas, it makes choosing an engine platform about 1000 times easier. Just my opinion, as it relates to what I'm looking for in an engine. |

I think what I said is pretty black and white about the other engine builders. Frankly since you ask, you can go back to some old posts of mine and you will see that I think Dyno figures are useless for comparing motors unless you use the same dyno to compare the motors you want a comparison on. They are useful for an engine builder who likely uses the same dyno to see if his development work is moving in the right direction. They can be made to read "optimistic" numbers that can be used for advertising, and there is variation in dynos by brand and model. Also, in my case, I weigh reliable horsepower as more important than just high horsepower. Again, let me remove any perceived innuendo here: On the Shelby block piece, I did not want to present a black and white production fact as we were given a presentation by someone who has not been at Shelby since mid-summer, and maybe their production has doubled/tripled since back then. But based on what we heard, the long term annual production figure averages out to 20 or so blocks/year. I find it interesting that we have Keith, Gessford, Southern Auto, and others building Shelby motors, but Keith must single handedly get all the production. :rolleyes: If I need to make any of this clearer, let me know. |

Congratulations sir, I to just got the call from Keith monday telling me my newborn son was ready to take home. Though it is a 427 windsor making well over 600 horsepower. I am a really big horsepower nut, seems like you will have that covered, lucky you. As far as for Boudy, I'am trying to wean him off those 302s. DON |

James Baldwin James nice motors:) Now for the real question, what the story with that SOHC motor and the fuel injection?? That's got to be a hair under 800 hp. What are you going to do with that BEAST? I think you are going to need ABS and 14" rotors for brakes on this one. You have a nice collection of motors. Tell us when the cammer is done. Pete at ERA can give you tips on fitting that BIG HEADED beast into it. What are you hiding in the blue car? I see FE base motors are in your family. NO FEAR HERE:D Rick Lake

Maybe this will get us back on track. How do you handle problems from customers that may live far from TX (say VA)? I'm planning a Shelby build in the very near future and I want to know how you would make a customer like me feel comfortable about ordering one of your engines. |
