Default Air cleaner height with Mass Flo FI

Keith, if you read this, you have a pic in your gallery showing a kirkham with Mass Flo FI and an 1 1/2" high ford oval air cleaner. How did you fit the mass air meter under that with any clearance between the air cleaner lid and the top of the meter. I can't seem to make enough space betwen my aircleaner and the hood. I saw your pics, great idea and execution. Mine is configured differently, it is an FE in a Kirkham and the height is the problem, cant drop base of the aircleaner any lower as I have it on the Air Meter now.

Default Mass Flow

Mike the picture that you saw had a Fast throttle body on it and used the Fast PCU without a mass flow meter on top of it because it was speed density. My intake had about an 1/2 inch spacer below the throttle body as well.
Have you cut the hood out to the edge of the air scoop. I had to cut the hood out to the very edge of the scoop and then I milled a little of the bottom of the air cleaner where it sets on the throttle body. I then had to put about a 45 degree angle around the outer edge of the air cleaner so it cleared the hood edge and the scoop wheen closed.
Rob my partner had to drop the engine on one of the cars that he was werking on about an 1/2 inch but this was with the stack injection.
How much does your hood likee before it will clear? Thanks, Keith

Default I can close the hood

I cut out the hood and have about 1/4" from the edge of the air cleaner lid to the inside of the scoop. I lowered the motors 1/2" + on both cars with new mounts the Kirkhams made. My options as I see it are to bevel the top of the aircleaner lids or have K&N make some custom aircleaner elements. I don't want to use smaller air filters because I am already at the minimum distance allowed over the air meter per Chris at Mass Flo. How much clearance will I get if I bevel the aircleaner lid? Can I get 1/4" before I cut through the thing?

Another possibility is to make a new base for the aircleaner and shift the unit to the drivers side 3/8". I notice that the aircleaner is very close to the hood on the passenger side but almost 3/4" from the drivers side. This same condition exsists on both cars? Are they made like this?

P.S. the motor you made for me runs very nicely, I would recommend everyone get one just like it. I will start the motor in car #2 this weekend.

Thanks again for all of your help. You can see a better motor picture in my Gallery.
