Default Kirkham gauges in non-Kirkham

Any one doing this? If so would you post with your experience? I'm thinking about swapping the gauges in my BDR for a set of Holman Moody stenciled KK gauges. (I'm doing a HM kind of theme with the car.) At any rate, I stopped by HM in Charlotte last Friday and spent 45 minutes or so talking with Lee. I asked him about the gauges and looked them over in his shop. He told me that there were some issues involved with the wiring when you buy a set, that they come "gang wired" and that you couldn't get just a couple of the gauges because of this. Are any of the other Kirkham gauges like this or can you piece meal them?

Thanks, Steve

Have you looked at the Revolution gauges from Speedhut?
You can pretty well have them custom made.
The speedometer is even GPS accurate.
They worked in my FFR great!

Suggest the new Autometer gauges available (finally) with an electronic speedo. As well as all other gauges in electronic.

Steve,
Call Tom Kirkham. He sells them indivudually, by the set, custom gauges too if you want. There's a few Paxton builds and Tom didn't skip a beat getting some made. And it's easy to get him on the phone.

Lovehammer, I have solid reason to believe that the gauges from Tom Kirkham are originaly from Speedhut. Mr. Kirkham's gauges say Kirkham but Speedhut would put your name in if asked. They don't use bulbs to backlight and are quite bright. I think they are a vast improvement as far as visibility is concerned. They are gang wired but are a "plug and play" so you don't have to buy a whole set. You will want to because they look completely different when lit at night to the other gauges.

I purchased the Kirkham voltmeter to replace my original Superformance-supplied Lucas ammeter, and the Kirkham fuel pressure gauge. They were easy to install, the wiring was basic and simple. While not quite exactly identical to the remaining Smith gauges, they are close enough it isn't noticeable. Their appearance may even be an improvement....and the lighting is definitely superior to the Smith gauges! I purchased them thru the Kirkham Gauges website advertised here on CC. Definitely a good purchase.
