Default Cracked windshield on K174

HI Guys! I don't get out much and haven't been on this website in awhile, but need some help or ideas. Gotta cracked windshield on my car #174. Any ideas for replacement sources or tips. David K. thinks he might have one, but not sure. Ideas? thanx. steve meltzer

Keep the new windshield in the box and replace with Lexan MR-10 and never worry about it again. Of course........JMHO

Call FFR- They are all the same. I replaced my Autokraft with a FFR complete windshiled assembly. Then sold the old frame on Ebay for what I paid from FFR. Only takes about an hour.

How did it get cracked? Do you have the support bracket that goes in the center of the bottom of the windshield frame?

Here's a lexan option that a lot of guys have gone with locally and never looked back (Fast Freddy is a local CACC member).

From their website: http://www.fastfreddiesfabrications....p?id_product=1

"Are you getting annoyed at having to replace your cracked FFR Roadster's glass windshield? We were! So how about the only solution to put an end to that misery with our CNC machined Lexan MR-10 windshields. Lexan MR-10 is an advanced type of plastic that is truly unbreakable for safety. It is National Transportation Safety Board approved and widely used in many window applications including airplane windows, marine hatches, eyeglasses, face shields, and architectural windows. Oh yeah, and NHRA, IHRA, SCCA, and NASCAR use them as well! Our Lexan MR-10 is crystal clear and uses the latest technology specially coated polycarbonate to offer enhanced durability, scratch resistance and UV protection from the elements. Do not mistake this product with the generic lexans, polycarbonates, or plexiglasses which can scratch easily and turn a yellowish hue with prolonged sun exposure.

Additionally, if you are looking to save a little weight these windshields offer a 13lb reduction over the stock FFR glass as well."

I had a piece shipped to the house and made my own, turned out perfect, for $75.

But what I did was make a pattern out of thick construction paper then tranfer to Lexan MR-10. Cut out with a Bosch barrel jig saw with a very fine blade, taping the cut lines with blue tape. Ran some sandpaper over the edges and done.
To make the pattern, outline on the inside and on the outside, split the difference.
There are videos out there somewhere.

Best, Bret.

finish line has it for $495 and has a 10% off sale with code BANDIT in effect after 5pm today.

If you want the lexan, I have a close friend that's a plastics wholesaler.

I couldn't find a Lexan sheet for anywhere near $75, so it looks like Fast Freddie is a pretty decent deal and I won't have to lean on my friend with a good jig saw. thanx everyone. steve
