I once had an old Corvette that I put aluminum valve covers, air cleaner, and other unprotected items to dress up the engine. it was foggy one day with a slight ocean breeze and when I opened up the hood to show a friend the engine I just about had a heart attack. That engine looked 50 years old. Every unprotected aluminum piece was covered in tiny pits and white corrosion. Yikes.
